Hows this for stats?

Brisbane popn: 1945639 (ABS)
Average home crowds per game for all clubs: 2008 - 33426
That is - one person attending the game per 58.2 residents.

Sydney popn 4399722 (ABS)
Average home crowds per game for all clubs: 2008 - 139757
That is - one person attending the game per 31.4 residents.

This is proof that Sydneysides are almost TWICE AS LIKELY to attend NRL games as Brisbaneites.

Brisbane only hosts 12 games a year. Even including semi finals and rep games, they only host the same number of games as Melbourne.

If Brisbane is RL heartland, they need a triple bypass.

Onya Sydney! Propping up Rugby League for 101 years, and counting!:clap:

Unfortunately LS, their lifetime of reading the Courier Mail and believing they are the king sh*t state in the entire f**king world, combined with drinking that immensely over-chlorinated drinking water they guzzle down, still hasnt given them a clue about the effects of mind control. Good to see Rupert looks after his state/pet-project very well :) I bet Rupert would like to thank Sir Joh right now :)

I brought this statistic up in another thread but I'm still amazed by it.

Explain LS or OVP how Townsville out-drew Sydney in a Kangaroo's World Cup test game?

I'll reply and say i dont care. Sydney has 9 teams and regularly dwarfs the Qld crowd figures, week after week, year after year. We have over a hundred thousand turning up week after week. Having a look at the crowds of the old BRL, there's no chance in hell you can compete with Sydney, ever.
Go right ahead and create Superleague 2 ... you can be assured that you wont be invited back again after Sydney kicks your arse in the TV ratings, like it did back in the Superleague days ... You got owned back then ,,, hahah sif anyone would care about Qld, Adelaide,Perth, NZ, Canberra, Hunter, plus 3 gay sydney clubs in the Disgusting Dogs, Sharks and Penriff ... up against the real sydney clubs in the ARL comp, YOU GOT BUTCHERED in the TV ratings. That frog-mouthed turd Lachlan came crawling back.

Go ahead, do it all again and see whats coming

Of COURSE Sydney is still league heartland. I don't care what any other Qlder says, the fact remains that they get HUGE amounts of bums on seats down there.

What a lot of people then need to realise is that, although twice the amount of people attend games, those figures are being spread between NINE times the amount of teams. That's when we get into the nitty gritty nasty details of it all. If there wasn't so much history attached to the clubs there, Sydney would be better served having 4-5 teams who could all draw 25,000-30,000 most weekends and might have the ability to keep their head afloat.

It doesnt matter what state the team is in, crowd averages are what count to clubs

Cronulla can't go to the bank and say yes we only get 5000 to a game, but Sydney gets more people in "total" than Qld does, so can we have 100million?

Can't wint he origin so have to make yourself feel better by claiming some kind of superiority with crowds?

Is this what NSW fans have become now?

What makes you think that would happen? You start tinkering with teams and you think that more fans will go to the game?

Look at the merged teams, did their crowd numbers shoot up dramatically after they merged?

As someone else said in this thread, try going to the bank with this logic to get money. They will laugh at you on the way out the door.

Guess the don't teach you kids stats in school any more...:p

There is hope yet.

They just simply don't understand Sydney at all.

Merging/cutting teams doesn't mean bigger crowds. Cutting the number of teams won't increase the crowds for the teams that are left. All it will do is alienate core support...

Even more? Is that possible? The core support appears scant.

100% correct. Humpty Dumpty's egg though. We can't put this sh*t back together...

You mean the infantile and incorrect attempt at applying statistics that I previously commented on? Too difficult for diddums to keep up is it?

The stats look pretty close to the mark to me, probably too close.

Where did you do anything in this thread that would be considered a comment on the stats posted?

Or am I supposed to follow you around the NRL section like a Queenslander with a chip....

Maybe you've been in an industrial accident. That would explain why you can't count that far.

I see, so this is your "comment"...

Why not try something interesting like, tell him why his figures are wrong?

English language not your strong point? Fair enough. I'll use little words.

"Bad use of statistics. If you used it in the real world you would be laughed at as an idiot. As an example, try using that early-teen logic at the bank."

Sorry that the words "statistics", "world", "laughed", "idiot", "example" and "using" were over four letters. I am sure that you have a dictionary close at hand though, so you should be right.
