I never thought I would see the day, but last Friday morning Koshy was sticking up for Rugby League. Berretta had reported not the AFL finding only 10 positives and what a good job they were doing. Koshy said how NRL only had one positive and person was named and shamed and NRL dragged through the mud, so how can AFL say they were doing a good job.

The tv rights are coming up soon for discussion as will the eventual bidding..all the media moguls have sent out insructions that in this tough economic climate we do not want to lose rugby league from our broadcasts but we do not want to pay top dollar either..so to strengthen their bargaining position they must tarnish the short term image of league in order to keep the price as low as possible.
They will argue the big corporate advertising dollars will want a discount for the popor conduct of league players and officials.
Once they get the brodacast rights again for well under their true value they boost its appeal again in the eyes of the advertisers.
It is an age old business strategy that the likes of Murdoch and 9 have used for decades.

All the 'macro' theories/facts that i present are just too improbable and 'out-there' to be considered possible by the guys on here.

Rugby league is an inanimate thing, its a bunch of rules when you have a football and a feild....it cant fend for itself, so the people who use it are to blame for letting it be hijacked like this.

the question in my mind is not so much what is wrong with channel 9 - the actual question is what is wrong with rugby league that LETS channel 9 do this to it?

You don't have to watch every episode to know a show is garbage.

I have probably watch two or three episodes of varying shows over the past three years and each one I've seen has been unadulterated bollocks.

They've always been bollocks and they always will be. They're designed to be sensationalist headline grabbing trash - in the same mould as gossip magazines.

People don't need to see more than 15 seconds of any episode to work that out. Unless of course that person doesn't have a brain or just doesnt give a sh*t how much they're insulted. In which case the show is purpose made for them.

Because the dirty bastards in Victoria are the highest breeding ground for swine flu with around 300 cases in Aus, 10 are warning people not to attend the match.

Seems like if you attend a League game you'll catch swine flu but if you go to a weekly AFL game you'll be fine because there's no warnings for them....

I have first hand knowledge of how the scum reporters and producers at ACA work. My wife was involved in a minor scandal last year and ACA approached her to do an interview. We thought it would be a good idea to get the truth of the incident out in the open. The interview went well and we thought it would be a positive story from our point of view. Anyway when it aired we nearly had a coronary, it seemed ACA had also interviewed the person we were in dispute with and had turned the story into an attack on my wife! They were very selective in editing what she had said in the interview and often cut off her responses before she could fully explain her position on the matter. ACA are corrupt and biased toward making a more SENSATIONAL and CONTROVERSIAL mountain out of a molehill. They have a team who trawl the internet and local news sites for any kind of drama or incident that they can exploit for ratings. :x

Seriously, just saw an ad for a current affair tomorrow and the leading story was "state of origin scandal", some bullsh*t about ben ikins family business being dodgy or something.

obviously it's a nothing story, and has nothing to do with league, but that is their lead in to the state of origin coverage. what the hell are they thinking???????????

For real..?? Is it Ch10 in Sydney making the call only or national? I'm a little surprised they haven't blamed the huge increase in the number of cases in Victoria on the NRL yet, but give them time.....

As for ACA, haven't watched that show for around 10 years and when I did it usually ended with me supporting the "scandalous" subject of their report.......

exactly why there should be laws against that kind of thing.

i find it funny as well that when its a slow news month they run the same tired old stories but with a slightly different spin.

like the amount of times we get petrol price scandals.

or what about the petrol pump stories themselves...one moment the pumps are SHOCK HORROR!!! out by 5% in some cases.....and then SHOCK HORROR we discover 6 months later that the pumps are acurate perfectly!! (in the lead up we were lead to believe in a scandal which we had to watch the show to find out about).

One time today tonight was caught making up an ENTIRE drama involving a court trial!! it was totally fabricated, and they faced charges for doing it, not sure if they stuck tho. (the charges related to today tonight taking footage and evidence from an actual real trial and including it in their fake one)

It is really a trashy show. But lets face it, people, its power and influence is severely minimal.

I would not worry about ch9 and its ACA show.

btw, at one time only today tonigth was truly shocking and sensational and bull dust, when ray martin was around....now both are equally trash.
