How Roosters plan to win the 2012 Grand Final

It's very simple. Reconstruct the team with a mixture of talented youth and experienced high performing stars. Here is the likely 2011 team that they think will be in the top four by 2011, and winners of the Grand Final in 2012.

Full Back: Sam Perrett

Three Quarters: Shaun Kenny-Dowell, Tom Symonds, J P du Plessis, (+ 2 undetermined)

Halves: Todd Carney, Mitchell Pearce (cover: Ben Jones)

Lock: Braith Anasta

Second Row: Willie Mason (?), Nick Kouparitsas, Setaimata Sa (+ 2 undetermined)

Props: Frank-Paul Nuuausala, Lopini Paea, Nate Myles (?), (+2 undetermined)

Hooker: Jake Friend

That doesn't look like a team capable of winning a GF to me. I'd also be amazed if a player like Tom Symonds was still in the centers by 2011.

Hooker: Jake Friend/Craig Wing

Ryan Williamson will be one of the centres.
I can't see Wing happening.
Cherrington will be in the second row.
Myles should still be there in 2012.
I like your plan though.

Roosters line-up will look just about nothing like they do now, in 2012.

I could just about bet my house on it.

With the salary cap/contracts being what they are a team can fall apart and be rebuilt in the space of the year. Just look at the Roosters/Bulldogs in 2008/2009. I'll be surprised if even half of those players are still there come 2012.

With Brian Smith at on board I guarantee half the current squad will be told to look elsewhere and replaced by journeyman Islanders.
A guy like Frank Paul Nuuausala is exactly the type of player Smith will get rid of straight away. Smith is a fan of agile props who can defend around the ruck, from what I've seen FPN lacks lateral movement and gets carved up by quick dummy halves.

I'm hoping he sees the potential in our squad. I have huge hopes for most of them. Its not like he's inheriting a bunch of late 20s mediocre players. A lot of kids that could be gun players in the next couple of years.

Where do you think Tom Symonds will be playing? Five eighth?

Last weekend Tom Symonds made 3 line breaks, Mitch Aubusson made none. Tom made 22 tackles, Aubusson made 11. Mitch has had two years more experience of first grade than Tom. These stats tell me that Tom is a boom centre in the making, and will be an awesome combo with future super star JP du Plessis by 2011.

If there at least 6 of those players playing in 2012 for the chooks then it will be an achievement for those 6 players. Smith will broom that place harder than what he did to the knights...difference is that he wont have little 7 yr olds writing crayon stories about how big bad brian has destroyed their chooks

All those stats tell me is that Symonds was lining up against Jones and Ropati last weekend.

An 80 year old with a walker could make 3 line breaks against Ropati and Jones.

Still, Symonds is a very promising talent.
