Why Hayne shouldn't win the Dally M Medal

Hayne winning sets a bad example imo. I want the Dally M player to have been the best player for the WHOLE year, not just for a part of it. Personally i would like to see either Thurston or Soward getting it as imo they have been the best and as importantly, the most consistent off all candidates, for the entire season. However, given how the Hayne bandwagon has rolled on, both by fans and the media, i could see him picking up plenty of points over the last couple of months.

I could see this year's awards being very similar to the one from several years ago when Thurston and Johns battled it out. After Johns returned from injury, he killed it in the Dally M points but eventually came up just short.

The Dally M polling system is flawed. Picking just three players doesn't always give the best reflection of a game, let alone the best reflection of the state of play throughout the year.

I actually agree with Sando.. The Dally M awards are a bit of a joke.. Players who really deserve awards like Stagg, Hannant, Luck, Douglas, Scott, Patten etc won't even get a look in.

It'll be same old with players like Hodges winning awards when they don't deserve to go close.

Hopefully I'm wrong but an awards show run by News Ltd.. Yuck.

Thurston lol.

There is no clear cut best player of the year.

The worst thing about it is, a prop or forward for that matter will nearly never win the dally m, even though they could've been the most dominant at their position by far and set the platform for those in their team to take the points.

dally m team of the yr is ok, even tho still lots of bias involved, no need to single out single player usually always halfback or a close to retirin player

The scoring system is fair - if you are sh*t for half a season and then have a blinder theoretically you shouldn't score points for the first half and then play catch up for the second half.

It is the judges that make it a joke.

Every player should be rated in every game. Fairest method.

Exactly, there are so many faults. People who have awesome games miss out, while people who have 1 or 2 blinders (3 points) are in better stead than someone who is supposedly third best on the field (1 point) for 3 - 6 games..

Hayne has been good since he was shifted back to fullback a couple of weeks before the first Origin (an Eels fan might be able to tell me which match). That's a fair chunk of the season, and I doubt he's had any more shockers than Thurston, he just had them all in a bunch at the start of the year while Thurston spread his out a bit more (having said that, Thurston was doing nothing until the first test, and then he switched to overdirve).

As long as Origin goes on weekends so players can have a shot at it, that would be alright. But how would you determine it fairly?

Now that I think of it, bugger the first part of this off.

Look at it that way. 2 blinders could be 20 points. 6 consistent games could see about 40-45?

Rating every player every game...now there's an idea. take a lot more effort though, would require a panel for each game

The award the players want to win is the one handed out by the Players Association. The winner is deemed as such by his peers.

Hayne has been outstanding all year, its just been the last couple of months where the rest of the team has come together, you obviously dont watch the games close enough, hayne deserves it more than anyone!

This could be one of the most funniest threads of all time.

No 1 deserves it more then Hayne. I cant recall many players dominating games like he has.
