Branding Lockyer a diver 'lacks class'
September 14, 2009 - 7:57PM

Brisbane coach Ivan Henjak said smearing Darren Lockyer's reputation by insinuating one of the game's best and fairest player's was a diver, lacked class.
Gold Coast centre Chris Walker produced a better sidestep on Monday than anything he showed against Brisbane at Skilled Park on Saturday night when confronted about comments suggesting Brisbane's Test captain milked a penalty by taking a dive during the Broncos' 40-32 qualifying final win.
"It is disappointing for a player of his (Lockyer's) stature in the game to do what he did," said Walker, stopping just short of using the word "diver".
Titans co-captain Scott Prince didn't help matters, quipping Lockyer could be nominated for a Logie.
"It shows a lack of class, maybe it makes them feel a bit better doing it," a disappointed Henjak told AAP on Monday.
"The guys throwing stones at him (Lockyer), I don't know whether some of them have got much credibility.
"I would have been upset and angry had one of his players said something like that about Scott Prince or Luke Bailey."
Given an opportunity to clear the air after training on Monday Walker said: "None of my comments suggested that (Lockyer was a diver)."
"I haven't seen the incident so I'm not prepared to comment on it too much.
"Locky is the Australian captain, that's where I will leave it at."
Asked again about the 43rd minute incident he said: "all players go out there and try and win a game.
"Certain players do it one way and certain players do it another."
Prince did agree that Walker had taken Lockyer out illegally.
"I thought he took him out, to what extent remains to be seen," said Prince.
"Obviously the visual tells a different story."
Lockyer seemed non-plussed about Walker's comments after the game.
"He can think what he likes," he said.
"I was looking the other way. I just remember getting whacked and hitting the ground."
Brisbane chief executive Bruno Cullen had his own gripe about Walker's antics when Corey Park was attempting to convert prop Dave Taylor's intercept try to push the lead out to eight points with a few minutes left.
"He was leaning on the goal post and yelling out at Corey Parker as he attempted to convert Dave's try," said Cullen.
"If he had missed he would have been entitled to another kick and that would have given them something else to whinge about."
Brisbane received some good news when halfback Peter Wallace escaped the judiciary after being reported for a high tackle on young Titans winger David Mead.
"I didn't lose any sleep over it, I didn't think there was much in it really," said Henjak.
"He (Mead) stayed down a fair bit and I could have had my say on that too, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt."

Typical Seagull behaviour. We've seen it before, but this time they're disrespecting the Kangaroo skipper.

Walker leaning on the posts and abusing Parker...FFS what a dick.

I saw this too. Reminiscent of Hayne wobbling the posts in an Eels/Tigers match last season. Walker = Maggot

Funny there is no thread about this dive.

 I love it how Canberra supporters hate the Titans. Does this all stem back to the Weyman incident?

Never the less, I wouldn't say Lockyer dived, I mean on the replay shown in the other thread it does appear he wacks his head pretty hard and he's blind-sided. Possibly milked but no where near as suspicious as BK's or Hayne's at Origin level.

Walker just can't help himself. He was a thug out there on Saturday. Or...a cat-ish thug. A cathug?

Mead did look a little suspect, but he is a tiny winger. I'll give him the BotD.

A few things really
Firstly they arrogance that has come from the organisation since day dot. Lets not forget they've never won a finals game as yet. Why on earth they think their sh*t doesnt stink is beyond me

Secondly they are MASSIVE whingers. Even bigger pack of whingers than we are.

Thirdly, they are dirty pricks. Conn instigated that crap, got his head punched in, Weyman rightly gets cited, but instead of letting the due process happen, they play the case out through the media, whingin daily about how poor Daniel Conn cant get a modelling career now

Not to mention early in the year getting done by them at Skilled when Zillman scored from an offside position. We lost 12-10

But the one that really sh*ts me, our first game there, every time a bomb went up, just as the fullback was about to catch it, we had to contend with a giant "boom" noise out of the loud speaker... Correct me if im wrong, but thats illegal in our game. Players cant do it, and the ground staff certainly shouldnt be able to do it.
They are cheats tbh. Sly and arrogant cheats. Reminds me of the Patriots in the NFL, except the Pats actually win titles

Nothing do with Zilly, he was home sick, had been for years reportably, just come off 2 knee recos, he's turned out to be mehish, whilst our man, Josh Dugan is now a star in his own right. Good move to let him go tbh

He dived. the Refs need to concentrate on the game more than what happens to individuals too. Not the first time this has happened this year or a ref massively overestimating or missreading a play.

The way the gold coast bitans, as a club, conducted themselves (via media outlets) trying to blame simpson for the clear zillman biting incident was nothing short of disgusting.

I read that actual article in the paper this morning and the Tits do actually whinge a lot.
And considering how spoilt they've been over the last 2 years in regards to home games and rub of the green usually with home games, they're pretty precious.

I did think the Meads tackle was high though.

Wallace didn't miss, and you think Mead was a little suspect?

I do mate, when I was watcing it, my 1st reaction was off the shoulder and it was nothing more than a glancing blow. Minimal contact. Mead went to get up, all of a sudden it was like there was a sniper in the grandstands. Flat on his back. Was greg louganis reffing that game ?

I didnt mind the titans as a club at the beginning of this season, i hoped to see them do well actually, but they have done a great job of turning my opinion of them throughout this season.
They have to be the biggest whinging bitch of an organisation within the competition by a mile.
Try just accepting responsibility for your mistakes or short comings once in a while and stop using the media as an outlet for your bitching and moaning when something doesn't go your way.

Huge case of sour grapes on the Titans part.

never liked Chris Walker. He's just a tiny little worm. No defence and has an occasional day on in attack every third blue moon

I hate them, R69 covered most points. I live on the GC , i have their sh*t shoved in my face , it fuels my hatred beyond healthy levels.

I will enjoy watching them leave the finals in 2 games straight.

BTW Lockyer did not dive , he was hit and had every right to stay down.

First contact was made with the shoulder. Not the head. Again I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but it did appear to be a little suspect.

I like the Titans, I lthink they're a fresh breath of air and I believe Searle would make a fine admin of the NRL as he always appears to be taking the right options. Don't forget, it was he and Campbell who devised the Dream Team vs. All Stars contest.

I'm not sure what to make of Cartwright. I love how passionate he is, but he's always been prone to comment on certain situations which makes him appear to be a dumb ass. Every coach is guilty of that though, or at least all the good ones.

I'm indifferent about the roster, on one hand I lurve Prince, Campbell and Bailey on the other I can't stand Laffranchi nor Walker. In saying though, Prince is a serial milker and whinger - a good personality though.

Pete i think they hate them because they 'stole' willy zilly

Why would we be annoyed that the Titans offered an off-contract player a deal? Certainly nothing wrong with that. Zillman being an absolute parasite and leeching off the club for years and then pissing off at the first opportunity means that we (or at least a small minority of us) can't stand the lecherous cretin, but the club did nothing wrong in that particular incident.

Raider 69 summed it up perfectly above though... the Weyman/Conn incident was the catalyst with the constant demands through the media for Weyman to be suspended for 12 weeks, the attacks by various Titans players on Weyman (again through the media) and the constant whinging about how Weyman ruined Connjob's modelling "career". That they consistently referred to it as a king hit despite it being anything but didn't help either.

We've all seen how they complained about the Zillman bite charge, carrying on through the media in the lead-up to the hearing and even attacking the victim in an attempt to influence the judiciary.

Watch what happens the next time a Titan gets charged, I'm betting the whole cycle will start again.

They are a scum club and I hope they fail at everything they ever do.
