Simmons, Laurie, Plum plus perhaps Kingston and Sa.
Sorry guys, I hate to say it, but none of the above are quality acquisitions and not likely to add value to what we already have or had considering we have lost JTK who should have been retained.
The recruitment of almost all our rivals has been significantly better than ours and when you take into account our low stocks in the NSW Cup and Toyota Cup I am afraid we have not improved our playing stocks sufficiently to be confident of an improved showing next season.
With the exception of Simmons who appeared to have been recruited some months back the recent additions have largely been panic acquisitions and players no longer wanted by their current clubs for one reason or another.
For reasons known only to the club, we were not out there actively trying to recruit some true quality when the whips were cracking some months ago and we are been left with the dregs. Sad but true.
Did it truly take the retirement of Adam Woolnough to kick start our management to bring some fresh faces into the club. If so, this makes it even more tragic.
My 16 year old daugher knows only too well where our deficiencies lay, sadly, those in power seem not too.
We had a significant opportunity in 2008 and were found wanting at the business end of the season.
We had another even better opportunity this season to make the eight and again were found short.
Even allowing for the fact we were without our number 1 forward and go forward player our capitulation in the last few rounds is again a cause for considerable concern and the players we have brought into the club or will bring into the club in the next week or two are unlikely to address our deficiencies.
Harsh, but an honest assessment.
