Simple but brilliant idea and I'd be willing to purchase a sponsor package. As for naming the initiative, I think the more coverage that "Souths Cares" can get, the better.

Hi Everyone,

Well, I had an awesome meeting with the club today about my junior member child sponsorship initiative. Suffice to say, everyone is on board with the idea. Souths Cares are ecstatic about the prospect of providing junior memberships to disadvantaged kids in our local area.

With timing being of the essence, the club has committed to getting the logistics of this set up by the end of next week. This will include setting up a portal within the Rabbitohs website to go in, provide your contact details, credit card details and a drop down box on how many junior members you would like to sponsor.

Everyone will also get a letter from the club thanking them for their sponsorship of a junior member, and it will also possibly identify the area that it went to, eg., school, suburb etc. For privacy reasons of course, we cannot divuldge the details of the individual children sponsored.

Also, to be clear, there is no committment from anyone to ferry kids to and from all home games. We may be able to organise something for a couple of matches during the season, however, these will be one offs and purely at the discretion of the club, if at all.

So hopefully by next week, this initiative will be an official programme, sponsored by the club and administered by Souths Cares. Happy Days!!!

As I have said all along, this is an initiative to help drive up our ticketed membership numbers, increase the awareness of the Souths brand in the community and around Australia, recapture a key demographic that has been lost to Souths over the last 20 years, and all the while, doing something great and positive for our community.

Many of us sponsor kids in third world countries. Why not sponsor kids in our own backyard, whilst at the same time, bringing them into the Rabbitohs family, showing them that we care for them and that we want to bring some rare excitement into their lives.

I know that I speak for a lot of people when I say that very few things make me more angry than seeing innocent children not getting a fair go in life through absolutely no fault of their own.

This initiative is a golden opportunity to achieve some great good in our own backyard, and to bring joy and blessing to these young lives.

I have said it all along. Souths is not just a football club. It is a cause for right!! It is a force for good!! It is a beacon of hope!! Lets take these three principles to heart as we all generously donate junior memberships to the disadvantaged kids in our local community.

God bless you all and as always, I will keep you posted on the ongoing progress.

Oh, by the way, I am still looking for a name for the programme. So far, "Bunny Buddy" or "Bunnies Buddies" is the one we like, but we are still open for suggestions. Please keep them coming.

Cheers,

Bunnyman07

A great initiative and one that Souths should be very proud about.

My preference for a name is Bunny Mates rather than Bunny Buddy - simply because mate is more Australian than buddy.

Seems to be slowing up a bit. Hopefully people are getting over their Christmas expenses and getting excited about our season ahead. If you can afford it guys, don't delay! We sure as hell don't want any other Sydney club beating us to the prize!

Looking at the updated numbers for all clubs looks like the saints will win at the rate they are going, which wouldn't surprise as they were minor premiers. Be nice to get there first but will be good just to get to the target win or lose. Haven't bought my own membership yet.

From memory, the same thing happened last year. Numbers slowed just after Christmas and then we had a late kick around trial time. Think we stacked on a few thousand in late feb early march.

Good point.

Bunny Brothers and Sisters would also work I reckon.

Hi Everyone,

Well, what can I say. The response has been absolutely phenominal.

I have just heard from the club that, as at 8:30AM this morning (barely 16 hours after launching), we have had 90 junior memberships purchased!!!

This is a fantastic effort. Let's mantain the rage and get to 200 hundred by the end of tomorrow. The Dragons are not behind and they are coming up fast. We need to beat them!!

Thank you all for your fanstastic support of this wonderful initiative!!!

Keep it up and tell everyone you know!!

Cheers,
