Assuming you start poorly and only win a handful of games I predict that pressure will mount on your coach and in the end it will be too much and he will resign. Subsequently the assistant will take over as your finances will not allow the payment of a high profile coach.
You will survive until the new TV deal however the Central Coast will pose a viable alternative if the Sharks continue in this way. There will then be a few alternatives; relocation (which you should take in a heartbeat), merger which I cannot see happening or sadly total extinction.
The way the world is now and the way that demographics and attitudes have changed towards league in the Sutherland Shire there is simply no way you will survive unless you jag a comp or come close to it. The proposed redevelopment will come too late. The plans have already been delayed until August due to the difficulties of finding a backer. I have lived here for over 20 years and I have seen the change in the area. People are just not into the Sharks as they were at their peak in the mid to late 90's. You cannot deny that.
You moron. You know nothing.
I second Reefy's reply and I ll also add this. Junior league numbers in the Shire increase every year. We still have one of the biggest nurseries in Sydney. And the big rise in memberships show people are still into the sharks. And despite the last 8 years our crowds were still ok and on a par with other Sydney clubs. How did the Eels go the last 23 years?
Dont give me that crap about demographics. The Shire is not like Balmain for example, which was once a blue collar working class suburb right into league which is now gentrified and filled with rich inner city latte loving types who are into other things. The shire is established and the same as 20 years ago. Like any team in any code a bit of success will bring out the 50/50 fans.
The delay in the development has nothing to do with finding a backer. You are just spreading bullsh*t there. How's your clubs $25 million debt going? The delay is for several reasons, such as those Reefy said and there are also minor details in the plans that have to be rectified like the roundabout and boardwalk/cycle way. In addition because of the failings and incompentance of the previous administration the new admin inherited a bigger than thought job of updating the clubs various protocols and licences. For example I am told the clubs liquor licence was so out of date and had been simply copied each year from one used 12 years ago.
If you are going to come onto our forum then bring a little intelligence and/or facts with you. Otherwise piss off.
