I can't recall them being this bitter after a loss before.

Some of the comments in the Parra forum are nothing short of embarrassing.

Believing the hype too much perhaps?

What bitter comments? We've all with the exception of a couple been gracious in defeat while summing up our thoughts on the game. What comments exactly are you referring to? You can't count anything that's been provoked by Gabba's rants.

Bitter? From what I've seen, most of the fans are upbeat. We had an appalling completion rate, no territory and were choked for possession and still were within reach (although never really in it, which is a credit to the Dragons' defence).

I have nothing to be upset about, personally. Yes, we lost. But our defence was outstanding, and we did score a couple of beauties.

It was a great game for the season opener imo.

Well done on a great victory.

The post mortem thread specifically..

Was just an observation i hadn't seen you lot carry on like that before. That's usually reserved by some other clubs fans *cough* *sharks *cough *

I'll concede that some people have their expectations set way too highly. For example, some are already willing to write Justin Poore off - I thought he had a solid game, considering he was playing against his former side and every time he ran the ball he was hammered by two or three Dragons at a time. IMO he still made decent metres, and got up for more. But according to some, he sucks.

I won't say I agree with all the penalties that were given either way, but who cares? It was an entertaining game, and a game in which both teams gave 100%. That is all I can ever ask of my team, and to lose by only 6 to a great side like the Dragons given the territory and possession stats...I am proud.

Well done to the Dragons and we'll see you soon!

Not all of them are being sooks, the few have posted in this thread have been fair enough.

Wouldn't be easy to take, as the media have built Parra up so much over summer....it was as if Parra just had to take to the field this year and the title was going back to Parra.

Soward summed it up best yesterday morning when interviewed....they asked if he was hyped for the game, his reply:
"No, to us it's just another team we have to play on a Friday night and another team we have to beat".
No pressure, no expectations, Saints went and did a job and went home....Parra have the expectation on them this year and I'd dare say some of their fans believed the hype.

You've never seen Parra fans carry on after a loss? You don't read their forum very often do you...

No complaints from me. Best team won, simple as that. That win should be especially satisfying to the Dragons being an away win, and at Parra. BTW, this forum has a large percentage of Eels supporters so it only seems natural that the percentage of "sore loser" comments would be higher than most.
