I couldn't give a toss if all our biggest stars were getting payments on the side because that's what they deserve and if they stay in RL then our game will be all the stronger for it. We've been watching our talent piss off to England and it's great to see a couple of quality Pommies come our way for a change.

There's talk that this sort of stuff is happening all over the comp and there's nothing the NRL can do about it unless they are conveniently presented with the info on their lap.

Having Sam Burgess in the NRL is much better than not having Sam Burgess in the NRL.

I think part of the deal was getting to watch Robin Hood in gold class as many times as he likes for free.

Plus, as many free copies of 3:10 to Yuma that he wants.

So who knows what else he has in the back end of his contract? Do people actually know his third party payments?

Lets face it, which other club would have paid the transfer fee anyway, so that he could come to Australia to play?

Lastly, if our side is over the cap, then there are are at least 10 other teams that are over too. You tell me how many players we will have in the Kangaroos and in SOO squads this year, then look at your own club and then come and point the finger.

WHy is everything about money?
From the start he said he wanted to test himself here and it wasnt about money.
He has always said it was his dream as well as his fathers.

Well it averages 250k a year, and if you add his transfer fee(200k) they are basically paying him $300k a year. I am sure he will get an upgrade with his next contract, wherever he goes.

I think it seems about right - as was stated above no other club seemed keen to pay the transfer fee.

Yeah he wanted to play in the NRL so he goes past Manly , Tigers and probably half a dozen teams to play for the dung heap that is the SSRLFC for $250,000 a year on a four year contract. Makes perfect sense.

Well the profile of the club and the things it puts forward has seemed enough to lure some big names over the year as well as alot of sponsors.

So theres something we havent seen either.

As has been said a thousand times, the transfer fee does not go to Sam and is not part of his salary or the salary cap.

I love how a couple of months ago most of the forum were screaming that he had proven nothing but now you all believe his contract should have been a bijillion dollars!

Also, it's one thing to try and cheat the cap but I think falsifying immigration documents is a bit too hard to believe.

 My oh my, they are real tempters. I believe that the clincher was that Russell reads him a chapter from the book of feuds every night before he goes to bed.

Its a wonder he's asking for any $$ at all.

If he wanted to play his home matches on a dung heap, he would have joined Manly.

In any case, Manly didn't have the cash for the transfer fee, so what are you whinging about?

He's on more than that. Surely.

There's no concrete evidence as of yet, and for the meantime I'll take Souff's word until proven otherwise.

What is stopping any NRL club from paying overs to imports from overseas?

Who would ever know?

WTF?

Are you an idiot?

Burgess entire deal has just been laid on the table, in more detail than any other Nrl contract, ever. Obviously, signing an overseas player for whatever would be blocked by the fact that a journo like Masters can get a hold of all the immigration paperwork and print it in the smh.
