What happened to public opinion??

if that opinion exposes us to libel we can be shut down for hosting it, so it will be deleted

got nothing to do with public opinion or so called freedom of speech especially when we go to alot of trouble to protect your, and everyone else's identity

I'd be surprised if there are many forwards on more than $300k a year.

ps aren't immigration papers confidential? I'd be putting in a complaint if I was Burgess at breach of privacy!

Yeah he wanted to play in the NRL so he goes past Manly , Tigers and probably half a dozen teams to play for the dung heap that is the SSRLFC for $250,000 a year on a four year contract. Makes perfect sense.

pride of the league baybeeeee :D

From the article-

End of story. Unless anyone has any evidence to prove otherwise then you are all making assumptions based on fantasy. i.e unsubstantiated allegations.

FTR, Dave Taylor is on $250k a year and I would rate them both to be at approximately the same stage of development.

Mate, welcome to the World that Roosters fans have been living in for years. As soon as there is something for fans of other clubs to be jealous about the mud slinging and accusations start.

You'd think these f**kers lived virtous lives themselves, but we all know they're just glasshouse dwellers with big bags of stones.

Lol @ Souths fans saying that because taylor is on 250k, Burgess is only worth 250k.
Taylor isn't half as good as Sam Burgess IMO, Burgess has been playing test footbvall since he was 18 and dominated the Australian forward pack in last years 4 nations. Taylor wasn't even an established 1st grader when he signed with Souths and to date only has 1/2 a season of good form behind him.
Who here would honestly take Dave Taylor ahead of big Sam

Correct me if I'm wrong but I fail to see how an innocuous picture of a brown paper bag could expose anyone to a libel suit, after all one would have to choose to imagine what may be inside. I get the feeling that it more than likely may of personally offended someone on here who has the power to suppress another persons choice of humour.

The above quote is exactly the one I was looking for:

Souths fans have unashamedly hammered the Roosters since forever regarding so called "dodgy dealings" and hating them for being a rich club.

Well there is no one in the NRL richer than Rusty.

And now a club a representative forward pack + excellent fringe players, of course questions were going to be asked.

But, please do not question Souths for they are blessed and untouchable.

Mods do have the power to "supress other persons choice of humour", however all mods work here is monitored and that type of behaviour would not be tolerated from any moderator.

They are instructed to err on the side of caution and sometimes that doesn't go down to well with some members.

Members generally dont like being moderated, but they also agree to our guidelines before becoming a member.

Life will still go on.

Rubbish.

The nature of the moderating that has taken place in this thread has been to clean up unsubstantiated allegations, either in words or pictures.

If Souths are guilty, their supporters will no doubt suffer the same wrath as any other clubs supporters that cheat the cap.

The point that a few seem to be missing is that Souths have not been found guilty of anything and in fact, according to this story, worked closely with the NRL to ensure compliance.

Mind you, News thought Melbourne were doing the right thing too.

You said more than that.

Your post can still be seen by administrators. It was clearly going down the wrong path.

Happy to correct you, you're wrong.

Plus it's not your decision to make. The administators have an obligation to protect this forum for all members. If that means erring on the side of caution occasionally, then so be it.

I'm sure most people reading this would rather have the forums available for posting, as opposed to being shut down because of the actions of a few.

This is an independent and free forum looked after by committed volunteers. We all (members and moderators) have all the freedoms allowable within our forum guidelines. But despite what you may think, you don't have the final say over forum content.

I trust this answers your first query. Perhaps it is not the answer you wanted. If so, I can't help that.

Your feeling on the matter is wrong. No one here is taking it personal. I'm sorry, but you are being misled - possibly by your own 'gut feeling'.

What you don't know is that the mods and admin have had their work cut out protecting this site from libellous and potentially libellous posts - posts made by members who have the luxury of coming and going as they please, and damning the consequences of their actions.

I can tell you now that this thread is being watched very closely by Administrators, myself and Twizzle. It was allowed some leeway early on but that's over now. We're not against the idea of the whole thread being quarantined for closer scrutiny, and we won't be backward to suspend accounts should anyone feel the need to test the rules further.

Hope that clears things up.

Now let's back on topic.

Cheers.

Um.... I am the only South Sydney supporter who has the ability to mod this particular forum and after removing a few posts early in the thread which were discussed with the other mods and found to be obviously libellous and needed to be removed for the protection of the site. I have not touched it since, precisely because we take great pains here not to let bias influence our treatment of other peoples posts.

I can assure you that the other Mods and Admins who have looked after this particular thread are certainly not pro South Sydney.

Do you know how the Dragons one reads, Ronnie?

I have no idea. Probably something to do with 2002 Charity Shield I'd imagine. How you were desserted by St. George when they took the money & took over Illawarra and left Souths high and dry, or some such tale. Fire it at me, as if anything Russ has to say isn't hilarious in its dramatic excesses.

How about his presidential address, sorry, I mean address to members from Pittsburgh last year.

A little self indulgent & massivley cringe worthy. Funny stuff.

If he wanted to play his home matches on a dung heap, he would have joined Manly.

In any case, Manly didn't have the cash for the transfer fee, so what are you whinging about?

Yeah we didn't have money for the transfer fee because Bradford were initially asking for a $1million! Now it turns out it was only $200,000. And I thought the transfer fee was supposed to be included in the cap.
Anyway I'm pretty happy with how the Manly forwards are going so I don't really care.

Asked whether he would allow Burgess to leave for $500,000, Hood replied: "We would definitely not consider (releasing him) for that."

Burgess has been staying at Crowe's Potts Point residence since arriving in Australia but Richardson said the rental paid had been deducted from Burgess's monthly salary and paid to Crowe.

''It's all declared and Sam is not receiving any money anywhere else from Souths or any entities associated with the club, other than what is declared,'' Richardson said.

whats he pay rent....

$1 per week

or

$1 per month

or maybe even

$1 per year
