What happened to Redfern Oval?

BTW hopefully that's one area where hopefully our club can succeed where your club failed - Redfern should've been rebuilt with potential for hosting NRL games. Belmore's redevelopment is aimed to host NRL matches at some level in the future ;-)

Stupid statement.

Belmore has far more room to work with than Redfern.

What capacity?

As a matter of fact I am a Souths supporter (refer to my signature below) and I also assist with the moderating (as you should have noticed yesterday).

So we have established you cannot read.

I'm tipping your stay here will not be long but I've been wrong before.

You clearly aren't a Souths supporter - the fact that you found common ground with boo boo confirms this to us "old timers" at Souths LU.

Finally, failing maths is nothing to be ashamed of either but if you want to get on in life you should get some urgent tuition.

So you can't answer the question.. you have probably never played a game of league in you life (thats not a shot at anyone else on here who hasn't) but i will use it agaisnt you because i feel like your having a go at me, being a nark with your smart arse comments. Moderator? Seems like you are just a big mouth who goes around picking on newbies when they post questions about their teams. I didnt come here to start an argument with you, why are you posting in here if i aggrivate you? why are you even in my thread if you know everything already? Im just emotional about my team and want to share my frustration as to why they have invested money in a facility, that i beleive, has the potential to hold NRL matches.

I agree it has nothing going for it you feel as if you do not belong there it's just not South Sydney that's why the Dogs are going back to Belmore it's a patehtic excuse for a Rugby League ground let the Swans have it!

Totally, i went to the game on Sunday and it wasnt too bad, way better than ANZ and much closer to home. I would still like to see a staduim built purely for hosting NRL. If we dont have the space at Redfern to go outwards, we should have dug down another 10 meters, like a burrow :p, to allow for a further 5 - 10 rows of seating. They do it all the time and possibly at ANZ even?:?
It could be designed as an intimidating stadium to play us!.. would be awesome...

I tell you what.

You go through and edit the above dogs breakfast post so we can all read it and I'll reply to every issue you raise.

I said it earlier and I'll say it again. A few years ago, we didn't have a team. Now we do, and its a reasonable one at that and some of you people wish to sit around and complain about where we are playing???? Anyone who was around when we were excluded and felt the pain of having no Football team to support and then the sheer excitement that followed when we were allowed back in, wouldn't be so choosey as to where we play.

Sure, it would be nice to have an NRL standard stadium at Redfern, but it simply isn't going to happen. The SFS and the SCG treated the club like sh*t so they can jam it as far as I'm concerned. ANZ welcomed us with open arms and is our home. They contribute greatly to our bottom line and at one point were the difference between us having a team or not having a team. Be happy that South Sydney still exists and is a competitive Football team.

I do agree that we are very lucky to even have a team. Just confused as to why Redfern wasn't developed better, hopefully one day we will play in true home ground like the Fern, or if they develop ES marks into a Rugby League ground, which im pretty sure is still roosters territory anyway.. i mean even the Central Coast will have their own grounds at Blue Tounge when they come into the NRL...

Ring Clover Moore's office and complain mate. Or simply pray that she gets voted out soon and someone more sympathetic takes her place. She is the major stumbling block to a proper return to Redfern.

Im happy for the doggies but that just gets me fired up even more! This is how it should be! Teams having their traditional home grounds... It has to happen, no matter who stands in the way.
After the dog's go back to Belmore, we will be the only club without a legit home ground, its bullsh*t, even teams that arent in the comp yet have them, ie Red's and CC.

Now we are talking as I said in a previuos post replace the city council & the Redfern council with an administrator, Rusty & PHAC have to get into Keneally's ear before she gets the boot next year and get the ball rolling foe Refern to be upgraded to hld 25.000 fans by building grandstands around the ground.Balmain are having leichardt done up as well as Campbelltown like StGeorge with Jubilee & Win these two teams have 2 home grounds we have NONE it's just a load of bullsh*t.

Interesting that you say we have no home ground? So considering we play the bulk of our home games each year there, if ANZ is not our home ground, what criteria would need to be satisfied for it to become our home ground?

TBH I reckon you'd find it easier getting a 20k crowd in and out of Redfern oval then you do the SFS. There is less parking around Redfern oval, but the proximity of Redfern station makes life so much easier. The SFS has plenty of parking but, driving is basically your only way of getting there and their is only really one way in and out of the Moore Park area.

Anyone coming from out west to Redfern would be mad not to catch the train whereas you don't have that option at the SFS.

why does everyone belive this? Its a 20 min walk from central, and there are busses that leave from central to the SFS every few mins. And from the Eastern Suburbs there are countless busses that go up Anzac Pde right past the SFS. I wouldn't drive there if you paid me.

I have been to god knows how many games to SFS and I find catching the train to Central and walking the easiest way to get to the stadium. It's a 20 minute walk.

I personally think that Souths should play all their home games at the Sydney Cricket Ground. A home ground they can uniquely call their own and with Souths' history and with the SGC being in Souths territory it's a good fit.

Sure, it's not a recuangular venue but if Souths want their own ground and playing in their own area then the SCG is it.

I don't care where we play at as long as it's in the moore park redfern area the SFS or Cricket ground I use to park at Fix Studios and have lunch dinner or whatever there & walk to the SFS it was great but that prick of a stadium at Homebush you park your car get ripped of with parking fees then get ripped off again if you want a simple hot dog or pie is disgraceful without having to watch a game in a ground that has bugger all atmosphere is to much to ask lets get back to reality The SFS or the SCG as suggested anything is better than Homebush.

We can't live in the past Appin, that''s the reason our club nearly died.

ANZ is a world class facility, more accessible for all of our fan base and they pay the club handsomely.

This debate is over, again.

Souths play at ANZ - I go and watch
Souths play at the scg, sfs - I go and watch.

Unlike some soft c**ks who won't travel to watch Souths play because it's not in our territory.
We have a good deal with ANZ so suck it up one day we may return to SS but until then suck it up and go watch the team instead of bitching from afar.

The deal that we get from ANZ Stadium is what has kept this club alive over the past few years. The debate isn't about where you would like us to play, but whether you would like us to play.
$1 million per year (or there abouts) is revenue that we cannot do without.
