Tahu, jealous over Scott's selection for NSW?

Before i go into the title, let me start by saying my opinion on the way Tahu has reacted to Johns "racist" comments; I believe Tahu has acted like a cry-baby, complete over-reaction just because he wants to have a big sook he has now put the blues preparation at stake and almost certainly ruined their chances to win tomorrow night... I know your all saying racism is a serious issue, it's a very serious issue, If he was a man he would have gone up to Johns and sorted it out privately as opposed to making it public, because no one apart from QLD will benefit now...

Another point which adds fuel to the fire, was lisening to John Gibbs on 2UE yesterday, he was reading out a liseners email who claims all this fuss over Johns "racist" comments is just a scapegoat, apparently Tahu was just pissed off he had to move to the wing to accomidate Beau Scott in the centres? - I know that point isnt actual fact, what i heard from the radio... please don't delete lol

thoughts guys?

You're a goose.

Tahu hasn't overreacted to what has happened. He's taken a stand on an issue and essentially drawn a line in the ground to state that 'This cannot continue.' Good on him, and I'd put what he has done in the same vein as Dennis Tutty's court case in the 60's. He's making a stand and hopefully the game will change for the better and this rubbish will be removed.

You then add to you post with heresay and claim it's a point. Why the hell would Tahu be jealous of Scott?! So what that he got moved from centre to wing; he still made the team and played most of his early career in Origin on the wing as well.

Your post is dribble.

Would take any anonymous phone call/email with a grain of salt but even if it is true he was lucky to be in the team in the first place so I don't know what he has to complain about apart from the racist stuff.

One of the sillier theories.

We don't know if it was a one-off comment or not. Bottom line: racial slurs are not on, and every sport in the world trying to do something about it.

Tahu is sticking up for his principles, and that's his choice to make. You don't have to agree with him, but ask yourself if it is appropriate for anyone to tell Tahu how he should respond after he has clearly been offended.

Maybe i was bit one-sided, just thought it could have been handled a bit better, I mean i've copped this sorta of racial sh*t all my life, Why is it different for Tahu?

Sure, starting with Johns putting a sock in it.

Tahu didn't create this situation.

How you handle it is your choice. How Tahu handles it is his choice.

Keep it behind closed doors, and never speak of it again?

Yeah, that'll stop racism in its tracks.

What happend to being a man and putting on his chin, instead of carrying on the way he is? I mean it's not like Johns was some stranger; they've known each for years. People get called racist sh*t everyday, amount of times i've been "Mediterranean Descendant merkin" ...

I dont want to keep debating it because you all obviously dont see where i'm coming from...

SD i think you're missing the point of a much larger issue. Tahu has obviously heard racist slurs long enough to have taken the decision to draw the line. There's only so much sh!t someone can take. Being called a "Mediterranean Descendant merkin" or "dumb lebanese" or "black ..." etc happens day in day out in every day life. Woop di effen dooo dude. We have an assistant coach for the NSW state of origin team throwing racist comments against some of the best talent. I'm not saying that racism somewhere should be accepted and elsewhere not accepted. But you can expect racism out on the "street" coz the level of intellect and respect on the street is lower than the level of respect expected to be shown on a platform such as the 2IC of the State of Origin team.

IMO, it takes a lot of courage to stick up for one's beliefs to the extent that Tahu has. He's given up his spot in the NSW side. He has essentially quit his job rather then put up with racism in the workplace, and has made sure his reasons are known to all.

It takes less courage to brush it under the carpet.

Well obviously we don't know everything about the relationship between Johns and Tahu. The fact that they would have to work together makes it harder. Perhaps you feel its the same as you copping crap from some dope in the street.

I am acutely aware of where you're coming from. About 1955 I believe.

i have also copped racism in the past, being called ''snow white'' and ''dried up dog sh*t'' in high school. I was too wimpy to do anythin about it, Being the only white kid there never helped either. But i agree fully with what tahu did, he clearly wants to show he doesnt approve of racism, i wouldnt consider it to be an overreaction

f**k NSW and their Origin preparations..

I'm glad Johns gets exposed in this manner. It's obvious that it has been going on for some time and I respect Tahu more for stepping up and making a big deal about it when clearly he is not someone that wants to be in the spotlight.

what it boils down to is this..

if you experience racism (or any deeply hurtful comments) from some random on the street, or someone you don't like, your mind simply helps you to justify it by telling you that the person who said it is simply a dickhead..

but...

when these comments come from someone you either respect or see in a position of authority (or even love, in some cases) the comments become more hurtful & take a deeper meaning, as you simply cannot put them off to the side as they change the way you see that person..
