What would happen if he signed for the Eels and his first game for them was an away game in Darwin or Adelaide - he'd be eligible for them under our current stupid system.

What the hell are you talking about? You have no idea.

He really is an amazing player and the key to their WC hopes.

He has many years left and if this was to happen he would be and outstanding talent in the NRL.

God I hope Parra gets him!

he'd be better than benji in attack, and about the same in defense.

would be awesome if he signed. a real talent.

At least he's young - but really, if they pay more than a decent reggie wage for him, what's the point? I maintain the same about Tahu - I just don't get it.

Edit: funny that a Wallaby was 6th chioce for the Eels after a bunch of has-beens like Barrett, Kimmorley, Orford and Sherwin.

Yeah, we're pretty desperate tbh.

IMO Quade Cooper, at least in terms of attack, would be a very good league player. He is good on his feet, has a good kicking game and can throw the ball.

Defensively, though...And whether or not it will happen...

What's all this defensive talk? How much worse than Thurston, Lockyer, Soward or Walsh could he be?

True. Technique wise he doesn't have any issues in defence. He can hit hard and really thump a dude as good as anyone. Where he generally is let down is his defensive positioning and communication. He has let through a few tackles being confused in who to go for and doesn't talk with his outside men.

He's had a blinder of a season with the Qld Reds and would be a good signing...but I seriously think he's just fishing for more money. Right now he's the first choice 5/8 in Australian RU. He is holding all the cards.

He also does have a great kicking game but doesn't use it as much as you'd expect a RU 5/8 would. In the recent Wallabies-South Africa game there were only 13 kicks in the whole game and Quade kicked the ball once. If he plays halfback he'd have to work on his short kicking game a bit.

Interesting when the shoes on the other foot.....when Union is chasing League players they are absolute scum who can't prodice their own talent but when Parramatta are chasing a Union player because they can't get League talent it's a great move.

Who said we "can't" get league talent? ;-)

I think you'll find this is simply a case of "thinking outside the box".

If union poaches top league talent, good on them - a good player is a good player. It goes both ways.

I, for one, am happy that league is striking back (even though, to be brutally honest, I doubt it will actually happen).

Ok by me as long as you wouldn't be pissed if hypothetically Hayne or Hindmarsh went and signed with the Warratahs. Would be some good 'thinking out of the box' by the Warratahs....

IMO there is a distinct difference.

when union chase a rugby league player it's usually the governing body that does all the work.

in rugby league it's usually a club doing the work. if our governing body was concerning itself with chasing union players i would be as equally critical. Governing bodies should stick to fostering talent.

clubs should chase who they like.

Absolutely. I'd be gutted, but I wouldn't criticise union for thinking outside the box and going to the lengths they felt they needed to to ensure success.

Losing Hindy, more so than Hayne, would suck badly. Hayne is great and all but Hindy...Hindy is the heart and soul of Parramatta.

However, after all the years of blood, sweat and tears Hindy has put into Parramatta, if he decided one day he wanted out to chase a massive pay cheque from union, I'd be gutted but happy for him. He deserves it.

But that's just me.

We're dreaming here I think....

Can't see the ARU losing him but if he did come to league it would be a big victory, as it would hinge on money!!!

He's the best Wallabies 10 since Larkham, and on the verge of a World Cup, they will move heaven and earth to keep him.

It's a RL Club not the NRL or ARL who may be doing the poaching.
