tbh i don't know if all this talk about lack of structure is entirely right - and I don't know if its all the coaches fault .... i think we do have some structure, its just not executed very well at all (infact terribly - and there isn't much variation)
we actually try and run backline movements when we get near the line ... we just do it f**king terribly and the opposition know exactly what it going to happen .... there is generally a decoy runner with hayne running around from behind him - but the runner pretty much never looks like getting the ball and the pass goes so deep to the wrap around player that the defense not only doesn't guess, the get teh chance to get up in our faces
the few times we've scored a good backline try this year there's been more players in motion and they actually look like getting the ball ..... we can do it - I genuinely believe we don't have a skillful enough half to execute it as it pans out - its all too premeditated (tbh kinda like too much structure) - the half never looks like he might go himself, the decoy never looks like getting the ball, there's little likelyhood of a runner back at a different angle - just one movement to try and get an overlap which hardly works ....... then a complete inability to get a repeat set when it doesn't come off
