SOUTH Sydney boss Shane Richardson says no Rabbitohs players will need to be shed to make way for Greg Inglis. Inglis met Russell Crowe before the Hollywood star left for the US at the start of the week and that has resulted in him being South Sydney-bound. ''And no, we are not getting rid of players,'' Richardson said. ''No one - least of all Roy Asotasi - has to leave the club. We have not offered players to other clubs. And we won't need to. We have room in our cap, third-party options and the marquee player allowance has increased.'' The deal includes Inglis becoming an indigenous ambassador as part of a lucrative range of third-party deals. ''I won't discuss the offer but we are squeaky clean,'' Richardson said. I put it to him that Souths had tried to move Michael Crocker to the Roosters. ''Not right,'' Richardson said. Inglis is Crowe's greatest player coup. Next stop? How about Wayne Bennett as coach? That will be tougher - he's a Queenslander at heart.

Thoughts? Seems amazing that he fits into the cap, must be some great third party incentives. But I guess Crowe commands that sort of ability

It's all speculation, they've been back in the market recently though so I'd assume they got some room back after getting rid of ~5 players at the end of the year, plus salary cap, marquee player and third party agreement changes.

Plus, good businessmen. Let's hope honest businessmen too :sarcasm: But I doubt Inglis would get himself into a dodgy situation again so soon

It's also worth noting that Talanoa and Wesser took pay cuts in their resignings and a lot of our benchies would be minimum wage... Probably even Ben Ross, though who knows the conditions of his contract.

Wouldn't have to be that far under. The third party payments are outside the cap, as is the marquee player allowance. Plus add the increase in salary cap for next year and it's all easily explainable.

I'd expect ross to be minimum or close to it given his injury history.

This is what happens when you have people running your club that know what they're doing. You make the most out of your cap, squeezing in as much talent as possible and not paying overs for anyone. Doing that you give yourself the chance to take advantage of opportunities like this when they come along.

i'm more interested in the reports mundine will pay inglis' legal bills, this would still have to come under the cap and again raises issues of people outside the club providing financial incentives for players....
