Wayne Bennett to finish up at St George

Souths makes sense. Bennett to replace Lang, Boyd to replace Wesser. Crowe would throw everything he had at him, & as much as Crowe is a show pony, he'd have enough sense to let Bennett run things his way.

But anyway, it's just crappy reporting. We know no more today than yesterday about what he's gonna do.

If Jack Gibson couldn't turn that steaming pile of sh*t at Redfern in to a decent team then not even Bennett can. Why would Bennett want to add a spoon and a phone to the head to his collection of accolades?

Wayne's greatest strength in coaching is that he draws the best out of people - he inspires them to greatness through hard work. I very much doubt he'll go to Souths - it just doesn't fit the bill, it's not his thing.

Agree just don't see Bennett and South going hand in hand. Possibly back to the Broncos if they have a shocker else he'll leave them be and let them get on life without him.

He came to the Dragons to win a premiership. He's done that. Unless he retires he will coach Souths next year. Crowe wants the best of everything for Souths. The best facilities, the best resources, the best players and...the best coach. He will give Bennett as much as he wants. As well as that, the chance to win a premiership with a 3rd club will be too much for him to resist.

Greatest coach ever will be coaching the greatest club ever in 2012.

Get your hand off it!!!!

Knights would have the money to gsnare him
Would be great for the game if he went to Warriors and delivered NZ a premiership
Cowboys desp need him
either new expansion team would be falling over themselves to have him build their foundations
Sth's he would be the last piece of the rich mans jigsaw

he won't be short of job offers I'm sure!

Wayne owes St George nothing. He delivered us our Premiership.

Best of luck, Wayne, in whatever you decide to do...

I agree. He promised he would stay as long as it took to win us a Premiership. He did in 2 years. What a champion.

It does.
There is also a slight logic in -IF expansion was set for 2013 - for him to return and coach a new Qld franchise. Big IF though.

It would be a shame for Russell to be disappointed. :sarcasm:

Yep. Spot on. Saints will be in a great position to sign the best available option if he leaves based on their playing list and what the club now is.

Potter or Maguire for mine. Not sure they will go down the rookie coach road again with Steve Price after Browny.

I've heard that Bennett has a hell of a lot of time for Price. Wasn't he one of the only assistant coaches he kept when he first came? I had also heard from some sources that Bennett wants to poach him if he goes to another club. For continuity with the current squad, it might be sensible to give Price a couple of years. If he is the quality that Bennett thinks he is, a guaranteed NRL Head Coaching job might just keep him. Especially at a recent premiership winning club.

If it was about money he would be going to Newcastle. Tinkler has made all those same promises and the man has just been officially declared a BILLIONAIRE. Crowe is a bum compared to Mr.Tinkler so if it was to ever turn into a bidding war, Souths will always lose.

Though lets not get ahead of ourselves which you seem to do all too often. There's still an entire season to be played, how about showing some faith in your players and coach this year. Oh that's right you're a Souths fan, as soon as you see a big name noone else matters.

Why speak when you're ignorant? Who said I haven't got faith in our current coach. The thing is, he's already decided to retire at the end of the year. That's been a well known fact for a long time.

You'll notice I think Souths will win the premiership this year. So I certainly am confident in my players and my coach.

That's why we've been linked to Bennett. We have a coaching vacancy after this season, he is off contract after this season...

Mate i think the recent problems they've had might be one factor for him to go there and help out
I just don't see him going there. It'll either be a Sydney team with cash, Brisbane, or Newcastle as an outside shot.
