What is Kearney made of?

I think this deserves a thread of its own. First I am a Kearney supporter and last night was the first time in several years I didn't get to watch a eels game in full. But after three rounds the side has shown potential. But I think after this week we will see what Kearney is made of. The side obsioulsy needs some changes. Will Kearney be brave enough to make changes to the side? Some potential changes may be required because?

- Smith has been poor
- 2 tries last night and 2 against against the warriors on Etu's side ( not neccesaary he fault
- Mcguire gone, will mitchel make the side ?

I think we have to trust that Kearney may be looking to give players experience for next season (such as Etu, Morgan, Rogers, Allgood). However there are some that, although experienced, add nothing to the side (Walker, possibly Fats).

However it is still too early to judge him yet. If Mitchell doesn't get a run now that Maguire is out then I think it will be safe to say that Kearney doesn't rate him.

Mitchell's in the top 25. Have you seen the squad? He's third choice hooker.

If McGuire's out Mitchell will play.

Judge him after 10 rounds but to say we have shown signs of potential is a bit of a stretch. The wariiors didnt turn up for the first 60 mins & when they did put 18 points on us.

It aint looking good. I just dont see any team spirit

Yes I have seen the squad. I have also noticed that Matt Keating keeps getting picked insead of Mitchell. Also, Keating has already resigned. What does that tell you about SK's opinion of Mitchell?

I think you could be right.

There still seems to be some weak minds in the squad, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kearney cuts a few club 'favourites' when their contracts are up.

It tells me Mitchell isn't in the top 2 hookers in the club, and Casey McGuire won't be at the club forever.

Should the club have let both Keating's and McGuire's contracts expire and throw Mitchell in the deep end with 80 minutes every week?

A club needs 3 hookers in their top 25. That's why Matt Keating was re-signed.

I thought he played just fine last night. He wasn't as sharp as McGuire but few hookers are. And unlike McGuire, Keating can play long minutes and isn't injury prone.

Storm had Bellamy & the best spine in NRL for the past 5 years.

NZ had the best player in the world and a bunch of other world class players around Benji Marshall, who together have clarified their status as world champions in RL.

Now SK has a club without a top class spine and without superstars bar one player who is playing nowhere near his best and it looks like the late last season hamstring injury is still concerning Jarryd. It seems to be holding him back.

If SK does not produce a bunch of wins over the coming 7 rounds it will show that he is a very average coach. The fact that Mannah only played 40 minutes last night shows SK is half asleep at the helm. He also did this same stuff up with Issac Luke in last years Tri Nations Final.

If it wasn't for Benji & the other very good NZ players & if it wasn't for Craig Bellamy and the Storms spine + Inglis, SK would have been shown up a lot earlier as the average coach he appears to be.

I've said it before and will say it again, it is P3 & Paul Osborne who have ripped the spirit of our great footy club apart. They messed with Daniel Anderson making it almost impossible for Daniel Anderson to do his job and this interference began during the early mid part of the 2009 season and only got worse. We are now witnessing this devastation, from seeds to fruits, our team is now the laughing stock of the NRL.

Paul Osborne & P3 sabotaged everything Daniel Anderson planned. The image Daniel Anderson was creating for the Eels was no longer in his image, each time Daniel looked into the mirror of his image there was Paul Osborne & P3.

The problem started at the top and it is there the sharp axe has to swing very hard and very fast ASAP this year.

As SK is now the coach I fully support him as I do with players who pull on the Eels jersey but just as some of our current stock of players are not up to standard and need to be moved on ASAP, the same applies with SK if he does not pull this squad into both an attacking & defensive unit that keeps our team competitive in all games.

I'd rather have a team that can attack and score tries and is maybe a little wobbly on defense but has a chance to win a game, than a team that has been trained to play safe, can't win points and, if they don't do well on defense, get slaughtered and have no chance of winning.

This is what we are all witnessing and if SK does not turn this around we should arrange a mutiny by getting rid of 3P at the next elections, sacking Paul Osborne and reinstating Daniel Anderson if he is still available and wants to come back to the Eels, knowing all the trouble makers up top have gone. Maybe Wayne Bennett could be offered a mega mega 2 year deal to sort everything out and put in place another coach to carry on in Wayne's tradition. Yes I know the Wayne factor is just a dream but if we move fast we might have a chance to capture his interest in restoring the Eels just like Jack Gibson did for us long ago.
