Interesting to see in the article he mentioned Dane Gagai could play 5/8th.
I wonder where Mr. Steveb Ricketts got his info from

It's easy to defer to Lockyer. If Wallace has the opportunity to steer the team himself and have all the responsibility he may do well. Might just need the void of Lockyer to grow. He is a good player.

With some hard work Norman could be a quality 5/8, he has the talent and potential. And who better than Alfie and Locky to work with him?

Yep ... Norman is the long term solution at 5/8 IMO. But at this stage, Wallace at 6 and Hunt at 7 for next year.

Just look at Manly this year with two young halves ... going great! You don't need superstar halves to win a competition. Players become superstar halfback once they win a competition.

Let's face it, Cronk will start and finish his career at Melbourne. Thurston will stay at NQ. Prince will stay at the Titans. No to Sandow. No other halfback in the competition stands out.

do not want sandow. overated hack who has 1 decent game in 10 (which is still higher than suttons average which is 1 in 16).

he would probably improve in a better team but i cnat see him getting much betetr than what he currently does.

agree. I dont think wallace has developed the way he should have (especially after his first few games where he got in there and guided the team aorund) and i think part of it is he doesnt have to cos lockys there. that in itself isnt a good reason to sit back but i do think thats what he's been doing.

look at keiren foran really step up this year, he's always shown glimpses of talent but it looks liek he's decided he needs to be the one to control the game for the sea beagles

Wallace had the opportunity in rounds 23-26 last year. We were towelled up for 3/4 of those games and the Broncs looked like a rudderless ship.

This year...so far, his kicking game has slightly improved. That's it.

Typical Broncos hard marker who expects Alfie/Walters like miracles every week. You can discount all of last year as he played injured the entire season, and less men would have stayed in the sheds.

Wallace is the best defending halfback in the competition, the top kick-chaser, and in the top six passing games. His kicks are improving yes, but until Lockyer stands down we can't judge how good he is. This year his bombs have been spot on, while Lockyer's taken the majority of downtowners.

We quickly forget 2009 when Wallace's game carried us into the finals. An injury to his ankle finishes our run. Sporting fans have very, very short memories.

A good preseason with wallace commanding the team will leave him in a better place to do his job that rounds 23-26 last year. Hard to imprint on the team at the end of the season. The other players have to adapt as well.

You keep using that as some kind of badge of honour.

It's f*cken crap.....

well if you're gonna play like that when injured, stay off the field ffs.

Exactly.........maybe Hunt might have found his legs if WALLACE wasn't holding him back by playing absolute shit, when he "shouldn't" been there in the first place

and as for being a hard marker.....F*cken oath!! Why not? I'd much rather be honest than to be a Peter Wallace apologist.

Believe me I'm watching Wallace.....I want him to succeed

and I will be the first to say well done IF and WHEN the opportunity presents itself.

but until Lockyer stands down we can't judge how good he is.

What bullshit......Lockyer holding him back

Please............

When will the Wallace well of excuses finally run dry.

Sandow has heaps of talent and raw potential, but I don't think he'll ever loose the brain farts, and will cost as many games as he'll win. He plays purely on instinct, but isn't anywhere near capable of organising a team IMO.

Yesterday for example, he played a very good game, but did that individually and was lucky too when he kicked a grubber on the 1st or 2nd tackle and ended up earning a goal line drop out from which the second souffs try came. When was the last time that anyone saw Sandow pulling the strings of his team like any decent halfback would do?

Wesser got dropped after kicking on the first too, except he wasn't as lucky with the outcome. :sarcasm:

Totally agree accept I'd say more.

Stopped reading right there.
Anyone intellectually honest would've have acknowledged Wallace's improvement this season.
He may not be where we want him yet, but his performances have been quite satisfactory, given the fact that he still has Lockyer next to him pulling the strings.

.......and I have. I previously stated that I thought his kicking game was on the up as well as his decision making.

However......I still don't think he's up to scratch and some comments blaming Lockyer

or using Lockyer as a reason for it

are ludicrous.

Blaming Lockyer?

Until the great one retires, Wallace will play second fiddle to him. Locky commands, Locky gets! Simple as that.
Do you know many halves that can shine next to a Lockyer or Thurston?

Having said that, he has been taking on the line, his kicking has improved a 1000% and his passing and decision making has been going better each game.

Besides the usual suspects, I wouldn't swap him for any other half in the NRL. I would however write a blank check to Kieran Foran to partner him next year if I could!

The only half I'd consider signing before Foran is Thurston. That's right, I wouldn't even sign Cronk over Foran, that's how much I rate Kieran.

A halves pairing of Foran and Wallace would be the best defensive pairing in the comp by far! That would be awesome haha.

Mate .. you are so awesome. You're 15 foot and bullet proof obviously! Never had to deal with an injury?

This is not "badge of honour" ... it is reality. Any player who plays injured plays below their best, no matter how tough they are.

Oh but wait ... you are the man of steel ... oblivious to pain ... walk through brick walls ... tough as nails ...

God help any players if you're a coach. You may want to read up on the piece in he Courier Mail today, with Lockyer revealing what makes Bennett such a successful coach. Guess what ... it's the opposite to your outlook.

He played like shit ........

OK......he was carrying an injury

If Henjack wasn't such an empty ball bag he should have sat him out.

Wallace certainly didn't do the team any favours by being on the field

.....did he?

re: Bennett ....wouldn't have played Wallace and is the last person to be making excuses for a player such as you continue to do. IMO

I'd like to take a bet. Which team's fans will finally like their halfback - Brisbane or Parramatta? We've given Parramatta a head start (Sterlo retired before Alfie), so I'm betting Parra.

Can't ya just look at Alfie running on as trainer and pretend he's our halfback?
