Come on 2010Dragons, the majority of players you mentioned at the start of this thread already had successful careers elsewhere & were on the downhill slide when they joined us for their retirement fund. Peachey,Wesser, Kidwell, Fletcher & Crocker were all just about 30 or older when they joined us. All were past their best, but I believe were brought to the club mainly to pass on their knowledge & experience to the younger guys.

Agree....then your CEO attitude needs to change or be sacked.
It's NOT the South Sydney Retirement Village....its a blood footy ball club which is UNDER PREFORMING year in year out.
Their knowledge means nothing...if they don't RESPECT the CLUB.

Mate, that was not directed at you, and was not having a lash at anyone in particular.

We demand plenty from our club, and whilst we have clearly been disappointed, that does not mean that we throw our hands up and go and follow Union or AFL or whatever.

You follow your team no matter, and even if you bitch about players or performances, that is your team unreservedly.

No ifs or buts, that is the bottom line.

Plenty of clubs have similar issues with dud signings, my club (Panthers) are specials for it. Also we seem to have a similar culture to Souths where mediocraty is acceptable. Luckily we have had a few good years to make it all a bit better, these good years I think are in spite of the general culture as opposed to because of it. If they find the magic bullet to fix Souths hopefully they can send it our way afterwards. Gus may be the answer for us & I thought a few years ago Romper Stomper might be the answer for the Bunnies, sadly there is still work to be done.

What I struggle most with & I imagine most Bunnies supporters are the same is how clubs like the Dogs, Broncos, Storm etc bounce back so quickly from setbacks & a lean year. What is the secret.

Here are most of the players who I can remember who have gone from good to down hill dive.

Asotosi...going down hill.
David Peachey... Went down hill.
Rhys Wesser....going down hill and over the hill
David Kidwell.... crashed down hill
M Crocker....down hill
Bryan Fletcher...went down hill.
Inglis....where is he going?....thats right.. down hill
Do you see the pattern now.
Every player who comes to the SOUFFS ends up going down hill....Why?

Firstly, whats with all these dragons trollers coming here in causing trouble? You shed the chokers tag and all of a sudden, you decide to come in here and rubbish us? I for one never gave you guys shit and actually supported you guys when we didn't make the finals. I guess i'll never understand the peanut brains of the dragons forum.

This is my personal opinion, so feel free to disagree..

I think Peachey went well with us, he got dudded a bit by Taylor towards the end which I think was harsh considering he was going well. Wasn't at the same level as when he was ripping it up at the Sharks but he came here at the end of his career so you can't judge it too much.

Crocker has been ravaged by injuries but when he is fit and on the field I think he's been going fairly well

Fletcher busted his hump for us but he couldnt do it all. he was trying to be prop, halfback, everything really.

I wouldn't say that long, but that is somewhat true. Had the best team on paper in the comp for years, but just couldn't get them working for each other. That's what Bennett did and now they all come here to cause trouble.

^^ this, for years we had to pay overs for older players but that doesn't seem to be the case so much anymore. This is why he is obviously trolling despite denials to the contrary.

Your Coach & CEO should buy players with good attitude from the start. Souths are NOT signing DUDS....they sign good players who just don't preform......once again...

South Sydney IS without any question the GREATEST RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB this country has ever seen.This club has at one time or another held just about EVERY record in the game.It's been a long and tough haul over the past 40 years but a club with such a heritage surely will rise again.

The one thing that comes from this thread is word ATTITUDE, and all we need is for someone to bring this back to Redfern. Let's hope it happens next year.
