SL 9's tournament was last month i think. Its on annually and teams like the British police, BARLA and the odd international team. Something that needs looked at for here

standard NRL response of player burn out, injuries...

cash cow to be had here, used as a serious international development tool.

no chance of it happening now with the NRL commission.

How can you say there is no chance of anything because of the new commission coming in? They aren't in yet and we have no idea what their thought system on this or anything will be. We don't even know who will be on it yet.

The All-star game pretty much ensures it will never happen again. Not that it was likely anyway. The NRL clubs killed it off last time and they will make sure it doesn't come back. That's what happens when clubs have too much power. The rest of the game suffers.

I'd like to see a 7s as much as the next guy (the rugby 7's is pretty much the only yawn-ion I ever watch) but if one of your clubs' stars got injured duing them and was out for the year dont act like you wouldn't be pissed.

Its a shame but its a catch 22. Nrl, indepednet commission or whatever there's always going to be the same problems

Players get hurt all the time, from training, to NRL games, to rep games, to falling over their own kids at barbecues. Only people who think club football is the be all and end all would spit their dummy if a player got hurt in a sevens game and want the whole concept scrapped. Which is exactly what the NRL clubs have done. Says a lot about them and their complete lack of consideration for anything outside their own club.
