i find it a bit weird that you'd try and extend half a year into a 3 yr contract .... i wonder if they are scared some other club might try and poach him? worried about Gus maybe??? :-k

Good decision by the board.

Kearney was brought to the club to instil a new attitude and culture, and while none of us are on the inside seeing the changes made, the board would be well aware of how the mentality of the squad has turned around under Kearney.

I'll ask again, how would most of them know what it takes???

Because he came from Melbourne and says the right things????

Performances on the field certainly aren't better? I thought I had seen a change but it appears the Dragons and Manly games were aberrations and last night was typical Parramatta, no mentality change from what I saw!

I would think letting him at least get through next season first before locking him up long term......

i'll back SK 100% till at least the end of next season. he already has that security, so an extension to prove support is a bit perculiar

Ok so our previous coach took us to a grandfinal & was fighting for his job a month into the next season. Yet a rookie coach who is yet to prove a thing is looking at getting a extension 13 weeks into a season of his first year. Ffs if this was his second year & we were killing it I could understand but this just proves last year the board had it for ando since the start & whoever thinks they didn't are ignorant.

It's too soon ffs

Really sad that Hayden is leaving at the end of the year - a real gentleman, always with a smile and positive attitude and Parra won't be the same without him around.

Aren't half of them former players?

Regardless, successful people in all professions know what is required for success. They know an organisation is only as good as its leaders and Kearney is the man to lead this club.

Because he came from Melbourne and says the right things????

He wasn't even the leader at Melbourne (though he was a leader). Kearney has been a leader ever since he captained his club and country at the age of 21. He's won a premiership and coached the Kiwis to two tournament wins.

Performances on the field certainly aren't better?

Better than what?!?!? Have you seen the squad he's got to work with? We haven't had a squad this bad since 2004.

I thought I had seen a change but it appears the Dragons and Manly games were aberrations and last night was typical Parramatta, no mentality change from what I saw!

You can't be up every week, and we did pick up in the second half.

I would think letting him at least get through next season first before locking him up long term......

If he's already shown the club's going forward then why not lock him up? Especially if we're worried about other clubs poaching him.

Wow, this board refuses to renew a Grand Final reaching coach's contract... but offers Kearney a new contract only six months into his term, with the team sitting in 12th or worse spot?

Surely this could have waited at least until end of this season when he's clocked up a full year in the joint, and recruitment proves that players from other clubns are keen to come and play under him? It's not like his current contract was short term or ending soon anyway.

You really cant see the change in the players attitude can you? You cant see that we're playing a more modern brand of footy?

The players are actually having a dig, they're making plays that in years gone we wouldn't have done. Those try saving plays.

The only thing holding us back is skill across the board.

"Good decision by the board." :crazy: 6 months into a 3 year contract after proving nothing yet. OK. Surely, you're just sh!tstirring?

"...the board would be well aware of how the mentality of the squad has turned around under Kearney." It has? As previously stated, what has Kearney achieved that Anderson didn't? They play a different style. That is all. I am yet to be convinced we will finish any higher up the ladder than 2010.

Seriously, if there is any truth to this article, it is utter madness. Kearney may well go on to be a good coach but let's let him get there before we start offering him the keys to the city.

I take exception to comments like that. The vast majority of players to wear the blue and gold have always - & always will - give their best. They are playing no "tougher" than last year. Anyone who says any different is kidding themselves and blinded by the spin doctoring this current mob does so well.

We are currently a struggling club on the field as well as one who cannot seem to attract any topline players. Sando was a good buy but he is hardly topline and we [reportedly] paid way too much for him.

Could this story possibly be linked to William Hopoate, who is certainly a target for the eels, and it has been said he was offered to stay with Steven Kearney. It is interesting that his return to the NRL is in line with the finish of the current contract for SK. Maybe, just maybe, the 2 tie in.

I am only guessing by the way. No one has told me this, just a guess.

Do we have any right to? Let's see....

* Tahu sooks off;
* Guru retires;
* Poore's been injured for an eternity;
* MK for a while suffered a long-term injury...

This isn't exactly the same squad as 2010. Tahu and Guru are MASSIVE losses in themselves. How can you reasonably expect a higher finish given the fact we have an obviously weaker squad?

:lol: Here we go, fancy wanting stability and a plan at the club. As much as I liked and respected Ando he didn't seem to have a plan to dig us out if this mess. And if the board are looking to tie up SK longterm the club might have snared another big name for next season??

Results are meager at the moment but we are where we were two yrs ago with a completely inferior roster. Most people were happy to give Ando time with a team he didn't create why not SK???

Ando didn't get time ...
