Stefan Ratchford looks set to leave Salford Reds at the end of this season.

His agent has told football director Steve Simms the player is not likely to sign a new contract.

Reds Aussie coach Matt Parish says he is ‘disappointed’ after holding a series of talks with the England star.

Warrington, who secured another Salford starlet Richie Myler at the end of last season, are now expected to battle Wigan for Ratchford’s signature.

Parish has gone on record saying he rates Ratchford highly and labels him a young player he could build a team for the future around.

And he hoped that he had done enough to convince him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

But Reds bosses have become increasingly frustrated with speculation rife for some time that a move away from the Willows was imminent.

They have offered him a lucrative contract but Ratchford’s representative Andrew Clarke contacted Simms over the weekend to outline the player’s intentions to leave.

Ratchford missed last week’s clash with Hull KR following a clean-up operation on his knee.

Salford could now step up their efforts to sign Aussie star Daniel Mortimer as a replacement.
