This is one of those cases where people in the game are removed from reality. First they try to cry poor about a player earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Then you have someone saying "they used to get all this stuff for free, as much as they wanted" and now that's taken away from them.

And then you expect families to pay upwards of $100 to go and watch them play?

I think 2 consecutive seasons plus several games to begin the current season on the sidelines would probably have a great deal to do with it. Who wants to sponsor a player that has had not many more than a dozen games in nearly 3 seasons?

Thats why SBW and Benji Marshall were always struggling for endorsements during their injury years I suppose... :sarcasm:

While, like any good human, I don't like Manly, I can't help but feel for Stewart. The bloke did absolutely nothing wrong and thanks to the media (and NRL HQ) where "guilty until proven innocent...and still gulty even then" seems to be a way of life, he got no justice at all.

He's tarred for life by what happened because the media can't keep their grubby paws of a legal story until a verdict comes through.

Let's not forget that 'innocent until proven guilty' is one of the basic principles of any fair legal system. But it seems if you're a celebrity, a footy player or even just anyone involved in a high profile case (Casey Anthony etc) the public doesn't give that right to you. Even though every single person who isn't kind enough to give that right to Stewart would expect that same right if they ever found themselves in court.

This is one of the reasons that out of the 5 high flying teams, I want Manly to win the comp.

Oh shit he pretended to gallop after scoring a try, everyone get your pitchforks, how dare he do that, Gallop has done no wrongdoing at all

I think the words "get over it" are used too often, but in this case they're on the money.

An article about how he has to pay for his own boots is really going to have people reaching for the tissues.

Who pays Peter Peters' salary FFS?

Fat merkin.

That's gotta be the most logical thing I've seen you write Bunniesman. The thing is, the media may not have made it what it ended up being if Gallop hadn't hang-drawn and quartered Stewart before the case began. Gallop had found him guilty and was going to make an examply of him but it all backfired when it turned out that not only was Stewart not guilty of sexual assault but he had also not been kicked out of the Wharf bar as was claimed. Brett has every right to feel hard done by with regards to the NRL. The media are what they are, selfish vultures who feed off everyone's pain and suffering, but the NRL should have stood by Stewart until such time as he was found guilty. Had it been Darren Lockyer that was wrongly crucified by the NRL and the media there would be plenty of outcry but because it was a Manly player the majority of the rugby league world just accepted it.

The problem in this one is obviously Peters who seems to be trying to drum up sympathy for Stewart.

It's that sort of article that will do the opposite of what Peters intended. I'd be livid if I were Stewart.

This.

Here's an idea though seeing as though snake has to pay for his own boots. How about he pays for a specially designed pair and auction them off after a game with all money going to a charity of his choosing.

Would be alot better then when the other players do it who don't pay for boots.
