Panthers likely line-up for 2012?

01. Lachlan Coote
02. Michael Gordon
03. Brad Tighe
04. Michael Jennings
05. David Simmons
06. Travis Burns
07. Luke Walsh
08. Tim Grant
09. Kevin Kingston
10. Sam McKendry
11. Nathan Smith
12. Nigel Plum
13. Luke Lewis [c]

14. Chris Armit
15. Cameron Ciraldo
16. Dayne Weston
17. Nafe Seluni

With coach Cleary on board you might see Brad Tighe and Michael Jennings in the Second Row replaced by Nathan Smith and Nigel Plum?

I think our outside backs will look at bit different, I expect one of our NYC wingers to claim a FG spot, and I sincerly hope VaiVai becomes our right centre, im not sure what will happen with gordon/coote but probably end up as you've got it.

In the halves Seijka should be there and possibly another kid Blake Austin at some stage. Like I said, we have a few kids that need to get a shot in FG to see if there keepers or not.

Disagree with you there mate.

You had the experience of last years wonderful run, talisman players in Lewis and Civo, a halves pairing really starting to understand their game, and the ever underrated fullbacks in Coote and Gordon.

Injuries have been your biggest demise this year. Could of easily been at the very least, fighting it out with the Rabbits and Knights for 8th spot. And up until 2 weeks ago, you were.

Wow, Fighting for 8th spot. What an achievement!!

Every team should be pushing for top 4. Our basic forwards and crap 1/2's would see us struggle against the top teams. We should be fixing these areas 1st. then signing the likes of Armit and Ciraldo.

How much better would we look with Manu or Williams in the backrow. Certainly is a lot more intimidating for opposition teams

Sadly I think you have the best 17 spot on. Hardly going to trouble for the title.

Non Penrith fans. Is this team a premiership contender???

Whats Buddy Gordon like at Penwiff?

It seems he has a bit of a trend with his last 2 clubs. Hit the straps early on, makes grade and rips in for a season. Then just gets lazy.

Has he even been cited yet in FG for the Panthers yet?

Yep. He seems to of kept Krispy kreme afloat

Your very pessimistic, this season isnt over and your already writing us off. Wait and see what happens before you go out and buy a wooden spoon.

No. Armit & Ciraldo off the bench are bog-ordinary and offer no impact. Smith & Plum offer little in the way of attack - neither are great line-runners or overly skillful, nor possess much in the way of an off-load. Jennings is hot and cold, Tighe I've never been a huge fan of, Simmons is Simmons and Burns isn't a good enough play-maker. After being underrated for a while I think Kingston is now being overrated - he's a solid FGer at best. Luke Walsh is still finding his feet but can't compensate for Burns plus the absence of Coote. I think a fully fit squad is a top-8 team but that's about it. Feel free to rip into my team....

Pretty close to my thoughts. Sometimes I think Penrith fans have blinkers on. We over achieved last year. This year is about where we should be with our squad. full strength a top 8 team add inuries we fall away.

Betcats. Watch Both Manly games, Both Melbourne games. The 1st 1/2 in Townsville.

5 games against top 4 teams. We had no problem gaining metres that wont change. We had enough ball to win 2 games where we fell down was on the attack. We had nothing very slow ball movement. We needed a forward sprinting on the angle or popping an offload to an outside back. That is where we lack and looklike doing the same next year

I'm not a Penrith fan but I do like a lot of players in that 17. Lachlan Coote, Michael Gordon, Michael Jennings, Tim Grant, Sam McKendry and Luke Lewis.

The need to upgrade on Brad Tighe, Travis Burns [Harry Seijka?] and Dayne Weston.

David Simmons [Ryan Walker?], Luke Walsh, Kevin Kingston, Nathan Smith and Nigel Plum are all servicable but if the option is to upgrade by all means take it.

Losing Petero Civoniceva and Trent Waterhouse is massive and to replace them with Chris Armit and Cameron Ciraldo in a team that is currently running 11th that has had a fair few injuries with Coote [8 games], Gordon [season], Jennings [7 games] and Lewis [8 games]. No I don't think that the Panthers are a 2012 Premiership contender but they might scrape into the Top 8.

I dont think we'll be that good next season but i think we'll be a bit better then you think.

What we lack is any creativity whatsoever in the Halves(bar the odd good game from walsh). I'd be suprised if Walsh and Burns is our halves pairing next season. I think Nafe will take the starting hooker role sometime next season aswell.

I think that's a bit harsh. Do you think Melbourne would be where they were if they lost Slater for the year, Smith and Cronk on and off for the year and injury affected while playing, Neilsen and O'Neil for the year, Champion on and off, while starting off with a nuffy coach and dealing with upheaval in the playing ranks and off the field with board level changing? They'd be doing well to be sitting just outside the 8, exactly where we are. Any team would expect to have a disappointing season if you have your 3 best players having years like that, but we've had most of our starting backline out at various times during the year.

Completely disagree with our forward pack for this year. They definitely have not been the problem, and have stood up in nearly every game. We have one of the better packs going around (House's poor season notwithstanding), and are a quality impact second rower away from being the standout pack in the comp. I agree if we only replace House and Petero with Ciraldo and Armit for 2012 we'll go to one of the worst packs out there. We'll need something else for sure.

I have no problem as far a metres gained. It's the lack of good angles and offloads. Every team has 2-3 that can put the centre in a gap or comeback across the grain except us. Besides Plum we have no big hitters in defence. We have the balance wrong and a pack of workhorses only.

I see where you're coming from, and completely agree another backrower who added to the attack would be great. I just think the lack of creativity is magnified by the fact that Gordon has been out all year, Coote has been out half the year and only sporadically shown what he can do and Lewis has been out or playing with injury for half the year. Those three are some of our biggest weapons with the ball, if we had them the lack of backrow firepower wouldn't stand out as much.

Is Lewis a workhorse? Mckendry can hit aswell.

Edit: In any case moaning about how shit we're gonna be next season before this one is over isn't helping anyone, your better off giving our new management and our new coach a chance before you write off next season IMO.

I am excited simply to find out who out of our younger players will step up. There is one or two i think could become top players eventually, Tia Kalifi (sp?) certainly looks to have the potential to be a barnstorming backrower.

You can't compare Melb and Penrith because both teams structure their cap differently. If Melb lost Smith, Slater and Cronk that'd be about 1/3rd of their cap missing, besides O'Neill and Champion have hardly been there all year.
Knights have been without Gidley, Mullen, Costigan, DeGois, Tuimavave, Taia, Fa'aoso, MacDougall, Naiqama for long long periods throughout the year, plus we had Paterson and Henry leave mid season, yet we're not making excuses
