oh and joel tomkins asked not to be selected for "personal reasons" rumours are he's off to union
That is another massive loss for rugby league in the north. Not good signs for his brother too, by far the most talented English player in a decade or two!

he was named in the 2009 & 2010 ireland european cup squads but i can't find any evidence of him actually playing??
so if his last game for ireland was in the world cup he's free to switch

I thought so. He was good in the WC against Samoa. Another player lost from the minnow nations it's a shame

I seem to remember Sinfield playing well as hooker against Aust one time, brought the forwards to life.

I thought Ellis was going to require surgery so that's a massive boost. Hopefully England do well this year.

Edit:Still don't like the coach.

Morley is no longer up to International standard in my opinion and hasn't been for a couple of years, they should've gone for Lee Mossop.

Good English side, not great. But Australia has probably its weakest side in a decade on this 4N.

I think RL needs England to win this 4N series.

Would give the game a boost off the back of Englands failure at the RUWC, and would be a nice bragging right leading into the 2013 WC.

Come on POMs, stand up and make a statement.

Under different circumstances I think England could have had a chance, but it's not going to happen with the current coach in charge.

I'd rather see England win the 4N than Aussie. But then we'd have to put up with spud bragging for the next 4 years. We're still paying for 07 LOL.

I can't knock spud, he has a lot of passion with little to cheer about.

We need England to competative - hell, Super League needs the national team to be more competitive with a player drain to Union.

It would be a boost to revenue and publicity just as the England RU mob mope back to Heathrow for some naval gazing.

We've all known for a long time that the most important step for our game to grow is for England to be competitive and for the ESL to close the gap to the NRL somewhat.

As much as we all like to talk about emerging nations right now that is probably the most important thing for our game.

No Shenton? Luke Burgess should be in the squad also. Time for Tomkins to stand up against the best.
