Are you suffering Capsis paranoia? As far as I know he is a councillor and a reverend who is against the development.

Big deal, so are many others. The issues my wife and I raise, as residents directly impacted by the proposal, are vailid.

Take the time to visit the exhibition and you will read these issues still have to be dealt with by the developer. It is not a matter of being cowardly or backing away. The issues are a reality.

Bingo, bingo, bingo.

I just wrote a letter to the Leader outlining this in more polite terms. It really, really shits me.

I live in Woolooware. Rent a townhouse with 2 other blokes. The average age in our strata block is about 80. Im not kidding. In the street it would be 60+. NOBODY goes to work. We pay $600 a week and the townie is a very modest, very 1980s original pale brick number. It needs new paint. It needs a new kitchen and bathrooms. It needs new carpet, desperately. In places, the carpet has worn through to the weave. The agent agrees it needs replacing, but the owner wont do it. They know they have us over a barrell because is we move out, there is nowhere else to rent in the immediate area, and if we go there will be some other geriatric sucker ready to swoop.

Move your life from the Shire dude and stop laying over the barrell, it is a low grade area that should be renamed "Bankstown Beach". And as you say... is now apparently full of geriatrics who will soon have no footy team to barrack for while living in rented units without running water or carpet. As soon as this mob is killed off we won't have threads like this anymore.. Crap Club.

Stop guessing, you lack imagination... and you're club is crap, perfect place for a nulcear reactor. Take that to your bank. While you're there get a loan to fix the bathroom, oh and on your way say hi to your local member for me. :D.

Those requirements are general of any application you simple man. Any relevant flood info may be nothing at all. Which is the case here.

This from a Manly supporter!!

Your home ground is the biggest dump in Sydney.

Won't be long before the infighting at board level kills the Manly Club off for good.

Can't wait to see it happen!

Thanks to the posters who linked the Sharks info website. Just some points of interest. The boards look beautiful. The development is certainly sold in the best light. I guess you would expect nothing less from developers who will profit from this project. The marketing is top class. However, as far as I could tell, none of the "artist impressions" show the 13-16 story buildings. I think the most I could count was 6 stories. It seems like the development doesn't want to draw attention to this issue (why would they?). One final impression, on board 19 where they talk about traffic management, this seems rather inadequate. I am guessing that the developers outlined the minimum in order to give themselves some room to negotiate with the department when they come back and say its inadequate.

I think the point about the Toyota factory adjoining the site and the mangroves being "full of rubbish" and having little environmental value is a good one. However, these arguments generally fall on deaf eyes for environmentalists.

I am dealing with authorities regarding property that sits on Minnamurra River. It is similar situation in that it is mangroves and swamp land for a large part and just up the river there is two local tips run by Shellharbour and Kiama Councils. They don't care about the state of the River and what has happened in the past, they are keen for restoration. We are required to restore the land and to have a buffer zone and I find the whole thing ridiculous but it is hard to overcome such viewpoints. I don't know the mangroves around that area well, but I can assure you that there are environmentalists who will get into the ears of the authority telling them how "significant" they are.

For what it is worth I think that Traffic and environmental issues are issues that could potentially derail this development.

I don't want any club to go under. So even simpletons like Scarves can get some enjoyment in life.

And ffs development objectors....fine, say you don't like it...increased traffic, too high, blah blah, but please shut up about flood. It's a crock of shit.

It is no coincidence that these floodplain arguments came on the back of the Brisbane floods. Cheap but effective.

no its not you are right there.

you can also see that the buildings on that plan are set back from the mangrove area.

the retail side is about as high as what the leagues club is now.

Wow, the Leader goes to town on the development. It is concerning for the club that more than one MP is speaking out against it. Not that the department listens to the local MPs or that anything like that goes on. Have they been opposed to the development before?
