THE INSIDE BACK

Sydney could be in for a double helping of Black Caviar in the autumn before she leaves to take on the world at Royal Ascot. The unbeaten superstar will return to Peter Moody’s stable next week and resume in the Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley on January 27. She will have a Melbourne campaign before defending her TJ Smith crown at Randwick on April 14, and owner Neil Werrett is keen to run the mare in the All Aged Stakes a fortnight later. ‘‘I would be happy to see her race twice in Sydney. The TJ Smith looks an ideal race and then she can go to 1400 [metres] in the All Aged,’’ he said. ‘‘She will have the Sydney runs and then it will be off to Royal Ascot and the July Cup.’’ The only run that is locked in for Black Caviar is the Australia Stakes but there are other races under consideration down south. ‘‘We haven’t finalised her program yet but Peter is keen to try her at 1400 metres,’’ Werrett said. ‘‘One option is go to the Orr and the Futurity Stakes [both at 1400m] before coming to Sydney. The other option is drop back to the Lightning Stakes [over 1000m] then perhaps back-up in the Futurity. We would like her to have a break before coming to Sydney because it is going to be a long campaign.’’

Great news for all you Sydneysiders..

I'll be down for T.J Smith day,so i will get to see the freak mare in the flesh for the first time..:D

Interesting.
Today I read Big Pete mightnt bring Nelly to Sydney at all and she may be off to England before the Sydney Carnival.
Personally I couldnt care less if she goes to England or not as long as she keeps winning.
If a trip to England harms her in anyway and she gets rolled what does it really prove.
A lot of things can happen on a long trip to a horse of her bulk.
She wins and we know shes the best anyway.

Black Caviar cranks it up in a trial

Nic Ashman

Tuesday, 17 January 2012

World champion sprinter Black Caviar was eased down when recording a six-length win in a barrier trial at Caulfield on Tuesday.

The Peter Moody-trained galloper flew around the 800 metre hit-out with the Herald Sun reporting the hulking mare to have stopped the clock at 46.34 seconds.

The time was around three seconds faster than any other of the morning.

Black Caviar makes her long awaited return in the Group II Essendon Mazda Australia Stakes under lights at Moonee Valley on January 27.

The unbeaten daughter of Bel Esprit will be shooting for her 17th consecutive victory in the $200,000 feature.

Meanwhile, gun apprentice Daniel Stackhouse was taken to hospital for precautionary X-rays after a horse flipped over and pinned him to the ground at the trials.

CHAMPION mare Black Caviar easily won a jump-out at Caulfield this morning as she prepares for her return to racing on Friday week.

Ridden by Luke Nolen, Black Caviar quickly mustered speed and held a margin of approximately six lengths on her opponents. She was clocked to cover the 800m gallop in 46.34secs.

“She had a nice burn. Her action was good and I was very pleased,” trainer Peter Moody said.

Black Caviar will race under lights at Moonee Valley in the $201,000 Australia Stakes (1200m) on January 27 where she will be looking to extend her unbeaten streak to 17 wins.

Great to see the freak mare back healthy & in tip top shape..

This prep will be the hardest of her career, with the travel & international competition (although i think Hay List is the 2nd best sprinter in the world ATM)..

Look out poms..You reckon Frankel is good..Wait 'til you get a load of Nelly!!..:D

Not likely she'll be heading to Sydney now, after her run at the Valley it looks as if she'll run in the Orr, Futurity and then off to Ascot.

BC vs Frankel over 1400, how good a race would that be???

I would fall out of my chair if the mare didn't get a strong mile..Her grand sire Royal Academy was world champion miler..

The wrap on Frankel is massive, but his times and sectionals don't back up his lofty rating..

If Frankel is 4 points better than BC then i am a worse judge than every one says i am..:p

BC would sit off him until the furlong...

Then make him look like Hay List.:D

She'd have his measure over 1400m IMO but at a mile could be a different story. Not sure what Frankel has beaten. Unlike BC who had made has made Hay List look 2nd rate and i rate him highly.

Mate i rate Hay List too..He may be the best male sprinter in the world ATM..

Frankel has beaten up his own age..But he did make a very good miler in Canford Cliffs look average in his first start at WFA..

They are both undefeated and coming into their peaks, but unfortunately a race containing the 2 is pretty much a pipedream..

He's going up to ten furlongs to take on So You Think..

Moody enters Caviar for Dubai World Cup night..

Brad Waters
Thursday, 19 January 2012

Premier trainer Peter Moody has provided champion Black Caviar with another potential target after entering the mare for two races at the Dubai World Cup meeting on March 31.

Moody has continually stated Black Caviar's major international goal for 2012 was the famous Royal Ascot carnival in June but the Dubai World Cup meeting could be the mare's first international appearance.

Moody has entered the daughter of Bel Esprit for the Group I Golden Shaheen on the Tapeta Surface as well as the Group I Al Quoz Sprint on the turf track.

If Black Caviar tackles the Golden Shaheen, the mare will finally clash with her latest Australian challenger Sepoy, from the Peter Snowden stable.

Martin Talty, manager of the Dubai International Racing Club, told Sporting Life, "Black Caviar is the best sprinter in the world of the past 20 years.

"This is the first time trainer Peter Moody has entered her outside Australia and we would be delighted to see her in Dubai. It is an honour for the racecourse here.

"All Australians want to see her run against Sepoy, who is owned by Sheikh Mohammed.

"With So You Think involved in the World Cup, the three best horses in Australia in recent years could all run in Dubai."

Not looking good for Sydney now..

Is the theory that most stallions that are the great ones these days end up being in stud and do not race any further,so you have second rate stallions racing against first rate mares?

I'm a bit puzzled in why this mare hasn't been beaten in Oz so she might get a shock when he heads off overseas where they really know their breeding...especially the Brits.

2012 Lightning Stakes - What the jockeys said
Brad Waters
Saturday, 18 February 2012

Black Caviar posted her 19th straight win in Saturday's Group I Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington and the jockeys had plenty to say about their mounts' performances in the feature sprint.

Placing Horse Jockey Comment
1st Black Caviar Luke Nolen "The people that showed up at Flemington today weren't disappointed because they saw two champions fight it out and thankfully I was on the winning one."

2nd Hay List Glyn Schofield "He's probably run the race of his life and got beaten. He's come back in great form and we always said that we'd thought he's come back a more sound animal and it's a long way to come to get beat but at least she (Black Caviar) had to stretch hard for it, she was never doing anything easy at any stage. At the furlong pole, I knew it'd take a lot to run her down because she just edged ahead of me and had race fitness on her side. I can't give enough credit to John (McNair) for the way he's got this horse back. He has had his knockers but you can't knock a man who has trained a horse to only be beaten by one horse. It's just a pity we have to bump into her every week."

3rd Buffering Michael Rodd "He just keeps bumping into these good ones. I'm sure there's a Group I win for him somewhere, he's just so honest."

5th Lone Rock Glen Boss "She was brilliant and she'll improve further in the Newmarket. I thought her and Foxwedge had the best 600m of the race and I'd even say we went home better than Foxwedge. She's flying."

7th Phelan Ready Brad Rawiller "He really went good, I think he is going as good as ever he would in a 1000m sprint at weight-for-age."

8th Metallurgical Craig Williams "At weight-for-age over 1000m my horse couldn't even keep up with Black Caviar and that's eight to ten lengths away from her."

She hasn't been beaten in Australia because she is too good..

She will do the same when she gets to England & their over rated thoroughbreds..

Miss Andretti holds the Ascot 5 furlongs record FFS..And we all know how much better than her BC is..

We breed the best sprinters in the world, we have dominated when we have sent our horses over to Europe. Miss Andretti, chosir,Takeover Target,Haradasun ans Starcraft have all won group 1races over there the last decade. None of them would get close to BC.

If she travels and settles in well she just wins any race she's entered in whether it be Dubai or Ascot. All things being equal if she thrives when she gets off the plane they won't get near her.

I cant think of any stallions that are Bc's age thats gone to stud yet.
In her year Crystal lilly(deceased)won the slipper very impressively and BC has carved her up a few times.

Never heard of any horse putting in a 9.98 for 200m between the 400 and 600m in my life.
Ca nt think of many to run 10.04 either that the runner up did.
Ive heard of some of these horses from overseas and if they landed in Oz they wouldnt get within 5 lengths of her.
There only hope is she doesnt travel but if Hay List and sepoy rock up one of them will clean up anyway.
She is the best horse Ive ever seen and Ive been following races since 1969.

Their sprinters are as slow as a wet week. BC is purely a speed freak the likes of which haven't been seen before. No other horse in 200 years has gone undefeated for its first 19 starts. Her sectional times are incredible.

Also, there are a lot of stallions at stud in Australia that were not too quick on the track. I think you'll find there are currently 700 standing with a variety (and some very poor) race track records. I can't think of any young stallions of recent times that would get near her. You are looking at what would have been the World's best sprinter in Hay List (gelding) if BC wasn't around.

Buffering was smashed but the time he ran would have won 18 of the last 20 lightnings, how would you feel if you were the connections of Hay List??? In any other era be would be considered a champion.

Mate we were having a beer during the cricket last night talking about exactly the same thing..

Hay List has to be one of the unluckiest elite horses of all time..

He is like Sailor's Guide who had to go to America to avoid Tulloch..

I hope they take him overseas..But go the other route to BC..Singapore,Japan & Honkers..

If there is no BC in the race he wins them all by a space..

Agreed. Both horses should be able to win three legs of the Global Sprint Challenge (obviously by avoiding eachother). The races you have outlined are the Takeover Target path which Hay List should attempt. Worth squillions too. Japan and Honkers both have a first place prize of around a million dollars.
