tbh, what useful player has Bennett stolen from us? Costigan? Boyd? Scott? Cuthbertson? They all arrived in Bennett's tenure.. How are you all not recognising this? All he has done is bring with and then take. He stole noone, they were his players all along.

Beau Scott was a group 6 player who came through our lower grades. Signed by Cronulla, he returned to the club in when Nathan Brown signed him in 2007. He was with us for 2 years in first grade before Bennett arrived, and several prior to that

I have to say that I couldn't care less.
Scott will be 29 next year
He has had major injuries
Price rates others above him in the pack and that's why he's playing in the centres.
He's a good defensive player who has little in attack
His substantial injuries will come back to haunt him over the next few years
Too many in this place have been believing their own hyperbole
Good luck Beau
Thanks for the time with us and play hard in for the rest of the season
I wouldn't trade De Belin for Scott and Costigan and J Smith combined at this stage of their careers
The Price is Right
Mac
At first I was so pissed of but you know what, the more I think about it the more it makes sense, why pay over for a player who's turned 29 with the likes of De Belin needing to be signed long term

Yeh like Bennett owns these guys just takes them out and puts them back in his pocket at will.

$tinkler has spent a lot of cash on the Newcastle Dragons / Knights, it clearly shows Bennett is under a lot pressure to deliver at least 2 premiership trophies for fatso. Bennett was in disbelief when Gus interviewed him last week the loss to the big Red V, sucked in to him and the drugos of Newcastle, I hope they become the Chelsea of the NRL, all cash but no glory keep churning over the dollars, it's going to dry up when the results won't go there way.

When you look at that way why then would we pay overs for the Stewarts who are 28/29??

this signing would worry me if it was DeBelin, Style or Mez and as good as Beauie has been he aint what youd call irreplaceable

sad to see him go coz i love his toughness and take no shit attitude but it aint a massive loss for us

i remember how much i disliked him when Browny was coaching and if he wassnt giving away penalties he was dropping ball but he has become a very good Origin standard player with a Aussie jersey in the cupboard

i think Bennett has broken his own philosophy by paying overs for a forward...there is no way in hell i would pay 400k+ a season for Beau Scott at this stage of his career.
sure people say he was aggressive and thats true.. however that aggression over the last few seasons went from having mongrel in defence to cheap shots, niggles and silly penalties..
he was the obvious choice to let leave to free up cash, keep the younger promising forwards like Stockwell and De-Belin.
if we wish to free up salary cap dollars for a big name fullback, half or a package deal like the stewart brothers then sacrifices must be made..

i ask you this for all those saying the end of the world.... what team can win a title..
one with Scott at centre, Stanley at fullback and Prior in the back row...
or one with B. Stewart at fullback, Stanley in the centre and G.Stewart in the backrow?
or maybe one with Cooper cronk at half?

your spine (1,6,7 and 9) is where the bulk of your cap should be spent, and here's hoping letting Scott leave is the start of freeing up cash to re-build our spine which looks very shaky so far this season (all be only a few matches)

400K that is getting pretty desperate they must be pretty light on, and already making excuses in case they dont do well.;-)

Thing about Bennett is he doesnt pay overs, thing about the Tinkler ran Knights is they can offer healthy third party payments
Ah, I think you need to choose your words a bit more carefully. While it is a complex matter, the old salary cap, third party payments still count in the cap if they are coming from the club or its administrators.

But I'm sure Tinkler has has found a legal avenue through this.

As for Bennett not paying overs, he isn't writing the cheques. I suspect his attitude has changed since 2010. It would be hypocritical for him to dictate financials given that he has accepted a mighty income himself from the Knights.

The key to a successful club is having players wanting to play for you for a bit less than market value, because they want to be there (like brisbane/melbourne)... which is the unfortunate thing about Bennett, by the time he built the 'dynasty of sorts' at the Dragons, everyone knew he was leaving, and we lost a lot of our pulling (and retaining) power as a club, really unfortunate timing, but Newcastle get all the benefit, because after seeing the Dragons success, players will want to flock to Newcastle hoping for the same.

In any case, my main concern is ensuring we have atleast 1 genuine champion half at the club (Sowie if he is sticking around).. our forwards are outstanding, but our attack is just not working, Cooper is the man that makes everything happen on the left, and we need a super power to do the same on the right (now that gaz is gone), well either that or maybe a genius fullback, or someone to create opportunities.

I thought Scott was 25 or 26??
Mate, you were carrying on like a two-bob watch over the loss of Scott without knowing his age?

He will be 29-years-old when he plays for Newcastle next year. Good luck to him, a nice score of $ in his latter career years.

some players, including backrowers hit their peak in the early 30s. Knights will get a lot out of him, especially because they won't be playing him at centre.

Watching our team get dismantled after winning a premiership was always going to happen. I wish Beau all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for the service he have given in the Red V.

First people were saying we paid 350k for him and now they are saying we paid 400k for him? Where did these figures come from? I would say he would be on 300-325k max. Which is not much considering the salary cap is about to rise consierably.

F*cking Newcastle have been raiding our ranks for years.....bunch of pr*cks.....

This makes me sick, they are a bunch of merkins.....and Bennett is the biggest of the lot. His parting words to our club were along the lines of I won't be raiding the Dragons to take players to Newcastle.

Real class act Wayne.

Muahahahahahahahaa...............

Welcome to Wayne's World

p.s

You guys didn't mind Wayne stealing/taking Broncos players with him when he left us.

What goes around comes around. :D

Indeed, I recall Broncos supporters whinging loudly. For a small group of supporters, you lot sure threw a lot of toys out of the cot.
