i thought Jamie wass again great for us, that pass to Flo for that try was a rippa !! - i just hope NSW look to Maloney or TC when Origin rolls around tho'

loved the leadup to the Style try too, Hornby with a beautiful pass and a nice out run by Beauie that sold it

2 things :

It's been written about many times, but why doesn't Soward run more ?

What about Merrin's amazing run before Stanley's try ? He made 25m and the last 10 were carrying 2 defenders. I think that effort sealed his spot in the NSW squad for Origin 1.

1st half = How all non-Dragons supporters thought and hoped we'd go this season.
2nd half = How we Dragons supporters know they can play.

If we put in too many more 1st halves like that one, goodnight top 8.
If we can make the 2nd half our standard, we can be top 4.

With De-Belin smashing Thaiday like he did, I'd like to Miller add to fuel the fire of our bench. He'd be itching right about now.

Green. What is wrong with C. Stanley this time? Please don't tell me hamstring. He is starting to strike me as a hypochondriac.

I don't know why Green isn't in the team but Chase Stanley did his shoulder playing for the cutters last week. Haven't heard how long he will be out though.

Since the departure of Smith, Saffy, Costigan et al, we have persisted with a back row rotation of Creagh, Scott, Prior and Young. 2 of these guys moonlight as centres every now and then, while another impersonates a dummy half.

This group just doesn't put fear into the opposition and we are often shown up by a big aggressive forward pack (explains why we haven't beaten the Raiders in about 20 years). The Bulldogs and Broncos forwards have both dominated us, and we were lucky against Manly that Stewart and T-Rex were both out. Powder puff forwards like the Tigers don't seem to bother us. Gallen, Smith and co will be licking their chops next week.

The Props have been going outstanding, we just need the back row to stand up. We need De Belin starting and playing big minutes.

As a matter of fact, we need 3 of him.

I'd like to see Miller get a run as well, However I think he is still carrying a hammy injury. He would offer even more mongrel off the bench. If fit, It would be good to see him get a bench spot against the scum.

You are spot on my friend. Young should retire. Scott can f**k off to Newcastle. Prior should be warming the bench. Creagh needs to be used as an attacking option and roam the field rather than standing pedestrian down the left edge. De Belin to start and we buy another pissed off mongrel of a second rower like Ben Teo to fire the f**k up.

11. Creagh
12. insert maniac here
13. De Belin

That looks much better. Young, Hornby and Cooper need to hang up the boots at the end of the year. I love all of three of them but they are all far too slow now. I know, i know, i know....outlandish statements, but thats just how I feel. Many will disagree but I'm ok with that

Hmmmm it's a real shame but I think the game has passed Hornby and Young by. They are always solid and rarely play "badly" but they never have blinders anymore. Why wait until the end of the season? I think the Dragons can win this season if they pick the best team available. I think Cooper can certainly last to the end of the year and maybe even next year given the way he has been playing (when he is playing) even though his body seems to be breaking down.

Bloody hell Hornby was one of our few good players against the Boroncos, he actually played for the entire 80 minutes. Some of the blokes that are getting a rap were non-existent in the 1st half.

I'm starting to agree with the calls for Prior to be benched, the bloke is playing with 0 confidence and is targetted when hitting theball up. Our pack should be Hunt, Rein, Weyman, Scott, Merrin, Creagh - Fien, Debelin, Young, Prior - Miller, Lattimore. Miller and Lattimore can't be far off replacing Prior.

It's rarely that he doesn't play well. I just think they need a halfback with more creativity. Hornby would be a great interchange player.

Our attack is far too pedestrian to challenge the top sides. He is a good honest footballer Benny Hornby and he threw a nice short ball for Stanley but that masks the bigger issue that our attack is rudderless at times and it starts with the guy directing the team around the park. The professional game has changed the landscape and we are carrying too many old heads in this team. We need youth and speed right across the park.

Why is Dean Young in the team?

Ask the Dragons Talent Scout and Team Manager, I think his name is Craig Albert Young. If you get an answer without getting your head belted in you can write it here.

Dean is the glue that keeps the team together.....no if or but.
Yes he is making mistakes but when the chips are down he is the first one to rev the boys up. Deano bleads red&white end of story.

AMEN to that! I hate to criticize Hornby. He has been so good for the Dragons for so long but I think his time has already come. Don't know whether the solution, which I presume is partnering K. Stanley and Soward in the halves, is any better but IMO Price should give it a try because at present, I see the Dragons being good all year but not seriously challenging for the title.

The Dragons have an old team. Hornby, Young, Fein and Cooper are all veterans. Which other squads have 4 veterans in the top team? I wish Hornby and Young could have their fairytale ending and go out on their own terms but alas, I can't see it happening. I wish both would be happy to keep training and being in the squad to cover for injuries but I think the sooner Stanley is getting a chance in the halves, King is in for Fein and any number of backrowers are in for Young, the better both long and short-term it will be for the Dragons and that is most important.

My god. The analysis in this thread is why I stick in Jubilee Ave.

Hornby has been very good so far this year. Prior has been outstanding in three games except when forced into centre and against the Bulldogs.

People turning to Miller as our saviour. LOL....comical.

Hi 2010dragons, why is your son in the team? you don't seem sure if it's because he is your son or if it's because he is the glue that holds the team together? we have cheerleaders, a mascot and a fan base to fire the boys up and they don't take up valuable spots in the 17

Sowards 5th tackle option are horrible. He should kick the ball further or in the in goal area. He should watch how cameron Smith Kicks the ball. His conversion attempts are pretty horendous as well.

It’s still early in the season and there have been some good signs, still see us as top 4 if things go well.
*
The props have been going outstanding, the back 3 has shown plenty of spark and Soward has shown more maturity and confidence this year. Looks like Style has finally found a home at centre as well.
*
It’s the back row that’s really let us down so far (with the exception of De Belin). Creagh is down on form, Scott’s mind is elsewhere, Young is on one leg and Prior has just been Prior. If we get the back row firing, we should be okay.
