Epic falls from grace

Auxerre: Played in last season's Champions League and now are sitting pretty at the bottom of Ligue 1.
Villareal: Champions League football AND 'relegation flirtation' all in the same season!
Portsmouth: FA Cup finalists in 2010 now relegated from the Championship division.
Samuel Eto'o: (I know it's not a financial fall from grace, but) how quickly he went from being the main hitman at Barca and Inter to playing for a half-arsed russian side.

That's all for now....

Isn't Eto being paid more in Russia than he was at Inter ?

Sampdoria in the 90s. Started out winning Lo Scudetto, spend the early part of the 90s amongst the top 4 at the end of the 90s, they were in Serie B.

Sampdoria Last season, played Champions League football, then get relegated.

Ronaldinho to an extent, Reigning world champion, lead Barca to Champions League glory, had won the last 2 balon dor's and then underperforms at the 2006 world cup and dies off heaps. Still an alright player but nowhere near the level he was at.

Newcastle Jets- Won the 2007/08 Grand Final, then finished with the wooden spoon 11 months later...

Grenoble: In Ligue 1 in 2009-10 and now in the French 5th Division.

I also found Sampdoria's fall from grace last season to be huge. From playing a UCL play-off against Bremen in September to being relegated in May.

Surely Dalglish would have to be included. Was pretty well respected before he took control of Liverpool last season. Responsible for probably the worst recruitment drive of the last couple of years, ridiculous backing of Suarez' during the racism scandal and just been an arsehole pretty much all season.

I'm sure Liverpool fans will disagree, but for someone like myself you was too young to know him before this all i can think of when someone mentions Dalglish is how much of a mess he is.

What would he have said? Considering FSG forced him to apologize i'm sure it's a good thing that the club wouldn't let him say what he really wanted to.

If he didn't feel the need to get involved himself and Liverpool would have been better off. SAF only really made a comment after the handshake debacle. Dalglish should have done the same instead of wearing stupid tshirts.

Kenny wanted to say more about the Suarez case, but his hands were tied by the club.

His club should of tied his hands a long time before they did.

The 'OFFICIAL Bundesliga is the closest league thread'. Was going great, but fell in an epic manner when Dortmund ran away with it. ;-)

Rangers have had an epic fall from grace. Which is sad...
