Is it possible?

Is it possible that we are not making signings or announcing them because of the uncertainty with Kearney and his immediate future ? Or is it because we are waiting until after round 13 so that players cannot rescind as per the round 13 clause and NRL registration requirement? Maybe nobody wants to join the current rabble but I do not accept that. Money talks in the end. Cronulla for instance were in a similar situation to the Eels and were still able to attract a number of players and have now turned the corner. They however stuck by their coach when many were calling for Flanagan's sacking.

In my opinion the likelihood of the Eels missing out on Tony Williams combined with another defeat may exert enough pressure for the board to bite the bullet and oust Kearney.

When was people asking for flanagans sacking. He was only in charge for 1 year & this year he is proving what a good coach he is. He also bought what he needed in the halves & has had carney firing.

Unlike our current situation.

HAppy to be proven wrong but

It might be because there may not be any signings made to announce. While money talks the club is in a position now where they would have to pay overs to attract quality and that's certainly something they'd have to consider properly given the highly paid players we have on our books already.

if the board havent punted kearney yet im not sure what else can happen that will sway them

If we keep losing surely they'll have no choice. If this streak continues I get the impression (and hope) it'll just be a matter of when, not if. Kearney spoke about drawing a line in the sand last week about what was acceptable, well the same goes for the club and his performance as head coach.

With every loss the sacking will come closer. Remember one thing the board will be looking after their own arse. They couldn't care about 5 year plans just the next election.

This is a good point. You would think that perhaps we have already signed some players and they will be announced after Round 13. It will be interesting to see what happens if we dont end up signing any players and a couple of players that we want to keep end up leaving.

That's a good point. The first priority should be to 1. Re- sign your best player (Hayne) and 2. Re install the faith in a player that is here long term (Sandow) and 3. For political reasons re-sign a crowd favourite (Moimoi). That's what I would do.

What is alarming is that whenever Kearney talks about the future he has to my knowledge and memory never included Hayne and Sandow in these discussions. Recently he even directly critisized Moimoi for laziness at marker in the game against Canberra.

if we lose jarryd to another team putting in a massive offer for him that we can't match there's not much kearney can do about that but if we lose him because of stuffing around or trying to sign him up on the cheap there will be a riot

That's rubbish. Hayne is already on big bucks and is a Parra junior. If we lost him to another club it would be the biggest disgrace ever.

He's one of the best players to ever come out of this club.

Been thinking, elections in April. That doesn't leave a lot of games for the board to look popular with their decision to sign Kearney.

They would probably look more popular punting him if we finish last.

I just hope the board dont make any rash decisions to save their own asses like sign SBW to $1m a season etc.

Hayne needs to be re-signed no matter what. If it means punting Kearney, so be it

Don't we need to sign players to replace the ones we're resigned to losing though?

Right but do we need to replace them with stars? People complain that we haven't signed any players but there are hundreds of players off contract. The fact that none of our off-contract players have signed with anyone else is proof of that.

Parra had the "buy of the year" last season with Chris Sandow. You can't be getting greedy and having the buy of the year every year

First off, who exactly called Sandow the buy of the year?

Second, being greedy? Please remind me how many players the Dogs have bought of the past 3 seasons.
