I don't think he is over-rated. He's just really inconsistent. I don't think anyone has ever accused him of being consistent.

He has been pretty consistent for us. I think he will become a great origin player, he is a long way from that right now.Look at how T Rex improved under Hasler, he was next to useless only 2 years ago. Last year he was explosive and a big reason they beat the Broncos in the semis last year. It will be interesting to see if Taylor progresses under Cartwright next year.

Dave "Peaheart" Taylor only delivers when he doesn't have to run at forwards. Blind Freddy could see this.

Even Centres are a bit much for the big fella I am afraid.

He eats halves and wingers for breakfast though.

Love the ole "I dont go as well up the middle" cry.

Yeah no shit sherlock your either too lazy or too much of a cat to have that bigger dig!

Not every winger.. I think big Dave would rather avoid the likes of big Wanu Watuwei & Uate.

Ridiculous skills for a big man though, some of his kicks for tries this year have been incredible

He is overrated... It's not that he isn't a good player, just that people rate him too highly...

Some posters think overrated = shit, which is just plain wrong.

Hes not overrated. He's just a Queenslander, therefore dumb.

I love to see the big bloke cut loose. He could be anything.

Travis Burns chewed him up and spat him out in a game last season.

When Dave Taylor left the Broncs I was a little devastated because at that stage I thought he would improve dramatically in the next two/three years. Well that hasn't happened. I thought the improvement would come mostly in the middle of the ruck, making the hard yards up the middle. Well that hasn't happened.

In the meantime, along comes Gillett for the Broncos, and given the choice between the two, give me Gillett any day of the week. Both have very similar skills, but Gillett hits harder in defence, and is just more consistent.

Taylor came through with another "next big thing" - Tom Leyroyd-Lars. Both have not kicked on to their potential.

I would love it if he signed for the Panthers. I dont get peoples obsession about him not belting it up the middle. He would be wasted up the middle, same as playing Petero, Scott, Grant etc out wide. Its a team sport, you want a good mix of player types. Someone like Taylor especially on his good days is an asset to any team. Same deal with Pritchard, it is no surprise to me that Jennings lack of tries coincides with Peanuts going to the dogs. Other Panthers fans moaned relentlessly that he was lazy, wouldnt do the tough stuff. Who gives a shit his job was to create room for Jennings & he was bloody good at it.

I don't think you will get much of an argument that Taylor seems to have performed below his potential. His origin performances have not been great. He has been in our top three players this year and we are running 4th. He isa far better player than leoroyd-Lars

I don't get the whole playing him in the middle thing. Yeah, he's bigger than most props. Big deal. Mason is one of the biggest around and was at his best at backrower. Should we start an Idris for prop campIgn?
