Anyway the point of this thread is clearly to troll but an interesting side-question is has Lowe taken this team as far as he can take it? Is it time for a new German coach for Brazil?

I think it's inevitable. Under Lowe a new Golden Generation of German stars has emerged and been moulded into an extremely good team brimming with talent.

However talent can only take you so far and they need a new coach to instill some mental toughness and the belief they can go all the way.

I see the point you're trying to make, but do NOT use Del Piero as an example of a has-been! He played great this season and could easily have held is own in this Italian squad...

My point was that 90% of the flag waving ginos that go to Leichhardt watch Italy play every two years and generally have no idea. Hence why they were probably left wondering why some older, more well known Italian players aren't in the squad.

As for Del Piero, great player but never performed well for Italy and no, I don't think he would have made this squad as he no longer has the x-factor that Cassano and Balotelli bring to the side. Not dynamic enough anymore for what Prandelli wants, but yes, still a fantastic player.

What do you think about Klopp as NT manager?

He has to prove himself as BvB manager in Europe first. He was tactically a shambles in the CL last year, changed tactics and just straight out got it wrong especially against Olympiacos. Fortune has been good to Klopp.

I like Hitzfeld because he would install that mental strength that currently lacks in the squad. This team reminds me of Spain. Very strong, not over the hump mentally but I believe Löw can get them there.

Anyway, people should be praising Italy for their win instead of focusing on Germany. When Balotelli worked out he wasn't getting in front of Hummels so went behind him and caused confusion between the two CB's it caused chaos at the back. Little things that don't get spoken about that changed the game.

And yeah, Prandelli definitely deserves credit for his tactics. Surely the manager of the tournament, flexibility, system changes depending on opponent, all midfield positions are interchangeable. Pirlo is the fulcrum but De Rossi in particular has been outstanding.

Well you just backed up my opinion. I think 4 major tournament semis in a row without winning at least once needs to be reviewed and some questions asked.

Whats stopping them from going that next step and winning?

Do they need a new direction, new tactics to go to that next level and will they need a new coach to get them there?

Do they want to move forward and constantly improve or stay at the level they are at? Would they be happy to just get through to semis/final of the next four tournaments but not win? Would that still be considered successful?

I'm not saying Lowe is shit or deserves to be sacked but with the talent they have they should of perhaps done better.

I enjoy watching the Germans play and think they are long overdue for the silverware they obviously deserve.

Firstly did you even watch the game? Secondly, did you watch every other Portuguese game in this tournament?

Finally, have you watched EVERY Portuguese game including major tournaments, qualifiers and friendlies since Euro 2000? I'm guessing no.

It's easy to judge based on watching a few games. Paulo Bento has put in place a system where Ronaldo is expected to be part of the team not THE team. And he has thrived in this system during this tournament.

Spain, italy, brazil and argentina are all superior teams. I rate chokermany along side with portugal and england. Choking is a tradition that weights on teams and it's hard to break. Besides chokermany have gone backwards since 2010.
