Kearney to leave Parramatta

It enables us adequate time to find a replacement at least, unlike the last 2 occasions where our coaches left in the off season, and possibly allow the new coach to have a say in the roster for next year.

Would have left us even more time had we sacked him three weeks ago.

I see what you're saying, but firing a coach when he only has 7 weeks left is strange to me.

My preference is for taylor as he appears capacity of building a side base on what I saw him do at south eg debuted a number of players including sandow

As for the timing, suggests a replacement may have been found.

Which you would want, so he can start finalising his squad for next year.

Also makes me speculate, perhaps Sticky asked LLewis to hold off on his decision.........

I think there might be something to this. It makes sense...

Replacing Kearney won't make a shred of difference, the club is rotting from the top down. Jesus himself couldn't scrape the eels off the bottom of the ladder in 2013 - crap culture, incompetent management, crap roster, hell of a combo

Why should Roy be blamed, at the time SK was regarded as a coup.

Sometimes a good no 2 is just that, Peter Sharp and others come to mind, you hire the NZ National coach, schooled under Bellamy and it should work, give the guy a shot then you take action. when it doesnt work At least we have taken a stand

Would you like to tell me who should be held responsible for hiring decisions? As in, who hired the former CEO (and in turn SK)? Don't worry I wasn't a fan of the previous regime either, and I wasn't happy when Ando got prawned (ridiculous decision). I think letting SK go is regrettable but perfectly understandable. But if people think that the last 2 years are all down to him they are completely deluded. It's a professional sport and we carry on like it's the local RSL club's Directors' wives Shopping sub-group. To be fair I think the decision to bring Nolan is a really good one, and hope he stays.

I still would like RICKY
He took NSW within a bee's dick of beating QLD.He didnt have anywhere near the team they did.Look at the halves he had to play with. He also won a GF and did well with the sharks.
He sure is better then SK

I'm not going to argue with you there. It certainly should have been earlier but better late then never I guess. And better now than ever later.

such a shame for him but his record speaks for itself. if the players have a problem they only have themselves to blame.
a good move in my opinion.

A message to mr avenger, two weeks ago I told you that I was told on Saturady that some people on the Parra board were going to commence legal action against 'Bolts' Hadley for comments he made on the footy show, the next day it was in the paper. I was also told on that Saturday night that Parra had a two year contract prepared for a new coach. That coach is Ricky Stuart. May be this might turn out to be correct.

I must admit - I really admire him as a bloke, and I really liked what he was trying to achieve with us, but even my support was starting to go. But I feel sorry for the bloke - he probably didn't have what it takes to be successful, but he gave 100% and has nothing to show for it. I hope he lands on his feet.

Thank Christ.

We need to move forward now and look towards hiring the correct coach, unfortunately with a lack of coaches on the market I don't really have a preferred option.

A few things:

1) A sincere thankyou to Mr. Kearney for his efforts. It was his first gig and he would have been so proud and so pumped to have come here. He would have had dreams of making this his club and having an illustrious career here.

I don't for a second doubt that he gave it everything he had, and for that I truly respect him and wish him well.

2) It's about damned time! Maybe he's a crap coach, maybe he just didn't fit us...I don't know. What I do know is that this year has been a write-off from the start and this is long overdue. We've gone backwards this year and we're a laughing stock, and this was with an improved roster. We've lost the chance to appoint a profile coach before the silly season started and we've paid for it.

This is long, long overdue and we'll feel the reprecussions of this delay into next year, as well.

***

But that's it folks, it's done. The likes of emjaycee and Suity will tell you that I have been a strong proponent of sacking Kearney all year. But that's it - it's over.

Let's stop bitching at each other and acting like children. Whoever the Hell gets the gig needs our full support and we need to support each other.

Onwards and upwards, fellow Eels!
