Disgraceful conduct after the GI tackle by Souths

It's as clear as day that Merrin was the instigator, Farrell was holding still because his legs are caught under Young's body (standard procedure).

Dumb and very risky move by Merrin to throw a cheap shot at him.

That will just about do me.

Farrell is looking around to see where the ball ended up. There was about 1-2 seconds maximum between him turning around in the direction of Young and the cavalry arriving. You can pretty much guarantee he would have been more focused on the other players charging towards him than with Young himself.

I agree that Farrell is completely blameless with anything that happened in that whole situation, but to paint him as some sort of saint who was only concerned with the welfare of Young is nothing but a fanciful stretch of the imagination. Farrell was nothing more than an unknowing bystander.

The fact he hadn't moved a muscle until Merrin heroically decked him in the face and started pulling him out? Disgusting of Farrell if you ask me
Since when is the face part of the rib cage??????????
How about the fact that he didn't move? He was waiting until the trainers came because he didn't want to do anything that could hurt Young. In a normal situation he just would have got up immediatley but he saw Young was hurt and stayed still. Until Merrin hit him with a dog shot for no reason whatsoever.
Yes, a tap in the side and suddenly the great humanitarian Farrell is up an into him and not giving a sh*t about Young at all. Not to mention the 4 meatheads trampling over Young and two trainers like they were going for the last three pies in the servo.

I've been relatively silent over this because I'm pretty torn on the subject. It was a shocking hit, I think we can all agree on that. Inglis was dumb as dogshit for putting a hit like that on a man who was stationary.

The problem I have is the more we and the public make a big stink over this and the fight that followed that put Young in further danger, the more we risk stirring up the hive big time, and it won't be good for the health of the game or its image.

Inglis deserves 4 weeks off, and Souths need to wear it on the chin, despite Bunniesmans abhorrently one eyed view on the incident (where's the surprise there?), and he WILL get those 4 weeks. If Souths need to pay the ultimate price for their lack of discipline by falling out of the 8, or at least the top 4, then so be it.

This was an ugly, ugly incident, but it is by no means a reason to wrap our game in Fragile tape. These things happen whether we like it or not, and with the negotiations for the T.V Rights deal currently at fever pitch, the last thing we need is turning our audience away by making the same mistakes as the fumbleballers.

Fair points, but to let it happen and brush it under the carpet is not the way to go. It has to be dealt with - harshly, fairly and publicly.

f**k how selfish is Farrell he should've just copped those punches and shoves being thrown by the Superman known as Merrin. Should've just sat on the ground and his team mates should have watched at a distance as he got nailed in the head ... Or was it rib cage? Wow Merrin truly is lenient with his punishments

Merrin was off-balance moving into the trainer. Who's to say he wasnt pushed first?

Actually, looking at the 15/16 second mark it is quite clear that Farrell nudges Merrin first. Guess many people look like tossers now for blaming Merrin haha.

Merrin should be banned for life.

He came out earlier in the week saying how hurt he was that Souths didn't give him a chance as he really wanted to play for them. Then he tries to belt a Souths player trying to protect Young.

What a pathetic human being Merrin is. Cut he wasn't wanted by the Rabbitohs, so tries to belt an actual Rabbitoh, regardless of his own team mates welfare.

Farrell is shoving him away at that point because he's already been assaulted once by then.

Wipe the Metho from your eyes you two.

Merrin goes into assist his teammate, and we can see Farrells arm extend to put Merrin off balance. Merrin has a hand on Youngs back at the time of this incident, not to mention by being put off balance he disturbs the trainer trying to assist young aswell.

The wider shot starts with Merrin off balance, falling into the trainer, where he then proceeds to return serve by pushing Farrell Back. Farrell then gets up in a split second (the original push he is on the ground.

the Video doesnt lie. Souths players are scum.

You're the blind one, watch from 1:43, Farrell's arm is up because Hornby is pulling him to his feet.

Yeh, Cause Hornby assisting a player to his feet should be frowned upon. I guess Hornby must have grabbed Farrells arm, and pushed it into Merrin...

My case and point is that Merrin was put off balance by the actions surrounding Farrell, and this point him in a dangerous position around Young (almost fell on him). He had every right to react on instincts.

Merrin being tackled by 3 souths players over the unconcious body of Young is the worst part of the whole incident anyway.

FMD - it scares me to think that you gimps are allowed to vote AND reproduce. No wonder society is f*cked.

Merrins tickle of Farrell should be enough to re-convene the Nurumberg Trial, but the stampede of beef that trample Young and two trainers into pulp doesnt deserve a mention?

Idiots!

4 weeks sounds about right imo.

South Sydney deserves better from these players. Rugby League deserves better from South Sydney. And if this is the result of that watershed day when fans of the Knights, Eels, Dragons, Tigers and others swelled the ranks of the great Town Hall march, then we can say it wasnt worth it
.

QFT. Clubs at deaths door and merged clubs went in to bat for you lot, even at their own expense and the Rabbits would never have survived without that outside support - which is so flippantly forgotten.

Souths would never have survived without it, but are puffed up on their own massive self importance from records that are from an age that was bygone about 3 ages ago.

Have some humility FFS.

Farrell didn't touch Merrin he is just a clumsy and aggressive little twat who started punching a player on the ground. For what possible reason did merrin have for standing over Young to begin with? Let alone instigate a fight there. Oh wait sorry I should say he is a true hero. And Farrell's teammates are the Hitler reborn for defending him

Lol what is this trash? Yes we are grateful to those teams who came to our side when we needed it. Just as we won't forget those who were against us. I don't see what that has to do with anything

You f**kwit.

A lot of people from a lot of clubs stood up for us. The Knights especially. Most Rabbitohs supporters are grateful for that & won't forget it.

Most of this forum is now dedicated to trolling our club. That's fine, but you're seriously deluded if you think some aren't going to troll back.
