interesting theories... i also have a few comments to add..
"He has constantly acquired funding for both Kogarah and Gong home grounds" .. .well he was pushed into action here, the NRL have strict guidelines on what requirements home grounds must meet in order to be accepted as NRL standard..
"He managed to bring in a coach like Bennet and the support staff" ... well not really, Bennett already had a hand shake deal with the roosters on the proviso that it wasnt leaked to the media... it was leaked and thus Bennett actually approached Doust.. Doust didnt proactively try and recruit Bennett..
"massive increase in memberships" Doust didnt do anything here either the NRL had a massive membership drive for all clubs, and Wendell Sailor actively played a part in this for the Dragons with his "RED V is part of me" campaign..
i am sure he has done a lot of positive things over the years as well, but there is a lot that has also fallen in his lap so to speak, or the club has been pushed into action based on NRL requirments... IMO Doust as a CEO has shown ZERO creativity or vision in comparison with other CEO's like the bulldogs, brisbane etc.. he seems to be stuck in the 80's mentality and we need a visionary leader at the club now especially with things like recruitment and corporate dollars so hard to achieve
Wow what a load of rubbish!
Firstly, have you seen Oki Jubilee? It is probably the best suburban ground in the NRL! Thanks to the funding aqcuired by Doust, nothing to do with any NRL guidelines! Look at Brookvale FFS!! Or even better, look at clubs like Souths and Bulldogs who play their home games at Homebush!!!
On Bennett, WRONG again! Yeah he signed with Roosters, but when the deal fell through he remained at Broncos for another season. He never approached Doust you fool, in fact Wayne Bennett has openly admitted to Cowboys being his first preference. Bennett has also stated what a well run club we are, that we were never a "basket case" etc. Do you really think he would have come to Saints if Doust was doing such a terrible job?
On Club Membership, yeah the NRL has had a part in that, but so has our club. Oh and who signed Wendell Sailor at the end of his 2 year drug ban when no-one wanted a bar of him? Oh that's right, Browny and DOUST. Who kept him on as Club Ambassador? DOUST!
