One Brit starts a thread gloating about how much better GB are doing than Australia, and then two dozen Aussies accuse him of being a sore winner...by being a bunch of sore losers, trotting out the same tired old lines.

Im not sure whats worse...using the line "bad teeth", or that people replied actually thinking it was funny.

And for the record, when we (Great Britain) beat Australia in sport we love to give you shit. And having lived in Australia for 12 years i can also say with confidence that its a national pastime here for Aussies to give England/Great Britain shit when they beat us in sport.

It's called banter. Some are good at it, using wit and a light-hearted nature. Some however prefer to whinge and talk about bad teeth, population differences, being convicts etc. But we can't all be funny i guess...

Now Africa is in meltdown, Asia countries are pointing nukes at each other, SOME of the countries brought in white only policies regarding politics and immigration and still turn boat loads of people away, natives were stuck in reservations and still are treated differently. Horrible policies. Will the colonies please catch up.


Biggest mistake we made was thinking the locals could run there own countries. They can't even compete with us in the olympics anymore.

Well not on here as i joined in 2009.


We were very underfunded until we got the olympics. Cycling didn't even appear on the national agenda.

The commonwealth games in Manc left us with some world class facilities, especially in Cycling. These coupled with us ripping of the best training methods in the world helped us get good.

In 2000 and 2004 we still considered ourselves the best. Its the British way. We were robbed/underfunded/unlucky etc.

Sydney and Athens actually weren't too bad for us. Granted you still crushed us in the medal tallies, but with 11 and 9 Gold respectively we performed respectably.

The Atlanta Games is what gave us a good kick up the arse. We only won one Gold in 1996! And that was thanks to the great Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pincent.

I remember it well, growing up in England at the time. It was quite embarrassing and one can't underestimate, nor truly quantify i guess, the effect it has on a nations psyche.

you make some good points but i think australia is going fine without british rule. imo we should become a republic, but i still value our allegiance with the british. i am glad the yanks won the war against those damn redcoats though! the patriot is one of my favourite movies!
