I'm sick and tired of people saying players dive when they don't.
I'm in my 20s, I have never seen a rugby league player dive. This isn't soccer. Diving is NOT the same as staying down. Staying down is done to fix a refs mistake and that's fair enough.

No, it was a dive - the offence in the tackle was marginal at best and it should have been play on. There is often accidental minor contact with the head, neck etc and it should be play on. Yes there was contact with the head, but it was not enough to brush a stray hair off Reynolds face. But he knew that if it was referred to the video ref that they'd get a penalty. In short - he milked it.
Don't get me wrong, Reynolds did the right thing for his team and he won a penalty and got two points. He's not the first player to milk the penalty and he certainly won't be the last. But it doesn't mean it's something we want in our game. If a Parramatta player had done the same to Souths today I rather get the feeling you would be complaining about a dive.
PS this ain't no anti Souths rant - I was cheering Souths today
