Diving.

I'm sick and tired of people saying players dive when they don't.

I'm in my 20s, I have never seen a rugby league player dive. This isn't soccer. Diving is NOT the same as staying down. Staying down is done to fix a refs mistake and that's fair enough.

No, it was a dive - the offence in the tackle was marginal at best and it should have been play on. There is often accidental minor contact with the head, neck etc and it should be play on. Yes there was contact with the head, but it was not enough to brush a stray hair off Reynolds face. But he knew that if it was referred to the video ref that they'd get a penalty. In short - he milked it.

Don't get me wrong, Reynolds did the right thing for his team and he won a penalty and got two points. He's not the first player to milk the penalty and he certainly won't be the last. But it doesn't mean it's something we want in our game. If a Parramatta player had done the same to Souths today I rather get the feeling you would be complaining about a dive.

PS this ain't no anti Souths rant - I was cheering Souths today

Surely the bigger issue is that two referees can somehow miss a high shot.

I have never complained about staying down, no matter who did it. If you've been fouled you have every right to ensure you earn the penalty that is rightfully yours.

Will never happen. All it would take is just one mistake for the NRL to have a lawsuit on its hands. Refs cannot and will not play Doctor.

That's the trainers job. People can be stunned momentarily and be fine seconds later every day of the week.

ok staying down is when you have been hit hard in a tackle

Diving is where you can see a player actually processing to himself when should i fall? Fuis arms never hit his head, he ran with both arms in front of the ball and Reynolds came in from the side got a little knock below his chin continues on with the tackle and then just falls to the ground, as soon as the penalty was awarded he got up without any hassle. Absolute dog act imo i hate diving and i know Hayne and Fui both have been guilty on it and when they do it i yell get up get up its not in the true spirit of the game. He Fui legitimately c**k his elbow then yes i can see he could get hit flush on the jaw.

Lets face it Madge has brought in a pretty similar dirty style like Melbourne has.

One other thing i've noticed souths do is get 2 blokes up top to stop the momentum as best as possible and then have a bloke come in and take the opposition from the back of his leg so he buckles. They and Melbourne are specials for it

Pretty simple to see he wasn't fouled especially with Reynolds reaction AFTER the initial contact.

never go full genius BM

Stop the video ref adjudicating on penalties, problem solved.

Can't be done. The two idiots in pink miss too much for this to ever come in. If the men in pink miss a serious foul play and the video guy couldn't look at it ther would be an uproar about it.

I am fine with a player staying down to get a penalty he should have been given in the first place. Make the men in the middle more responsible by dropping them for missing such things and you would not have to go so much to the video ref.

You don't put your arms out to brake your fall if your concussed, stunned or dazed! Who's seen a cenotaph guard go down on ANZAC day? That's how you do it. Reynolds miked it and it's not cricket!

You obviously haven't watched any game Scott Prince plays in then. Nobody knows how to dive quite like that little wanker.

I felt sorry for Segeyaro when that happened (think it was him). What I found funny was when Luke came out and said that he had to drink and eat out of a straw.

Commitment to the dive. I remember he also said there was blood on his mouthguard, which prompted Bunniestard or another Souffs fan to start saying "his mouth filled with blood!".

btw Adam Reynolds is an overrated lil merkin who will fall flat on his face (unlike his dive) in the finals

Sam Williams > Adam Reynolds.

I hope This was just a Brain Explosion by Reynolds, he is too good a Player to have this Crap in his Game at such a young age

As a few other people have said, if a Player hits the ground knocked out or dazed (wether acting or not), put him off to be assesed

It was certainly an Oscar winning performance though

Get rid of the video ref, and plays will stop diving and pretending to be hurt.

You can't blame the players when the game has been designed so this sort of stuff gets encouraged. Change the rule, watch it stop happening.
