Who will make this exclusive list?

Looks like Inglis will be the first but I doubt there will be too many that will fall into this category. I predict the following players will hit the magic million dollars per season salary:

Definites:

Greg Inglis
Jarryd Hayne
JT
Billy Slater

Possibles:

Cameron Smith
Cooper Cronk

Marshall
Barba
Slater
Inglis
Smith
Hayne
Thurston

would be my picks.

Reynolds, Cherry Evans, Carney... maybe in a couple of years depending on form.

SBW
Folau if he ever comes back

Interesting thread.

Even if a player provides $1,000,000.00 of value to a club, the club may not have to actually pay that amount to keep them. For any superior counter-offer Each extra dollar providess less utility, and for all bar a few, even the 600-900k will already represent a large increase on their current salary. It may makie it difficult for rival bidders to incentivise a move away from a player's current club.

By way of example, $1,000,000.00 against $950,000.00k may not tempt a player to move on to the same extent $500,000.00 to $450,000.00 does.

Haha... if Melbourne ends up with a $3.5 million spine, the rest of their team should be interesting.

I doubt Slater, Thurston, Smith will bust the $1 million mark, simply because of their age. They aren't OLD but I doubt their best days are ahead of them.

Marshall, Barba and Inglis are more likely in the next couple of seasons, imo.

Hayne? Come in the guy has had one spectacular year and is now largely recognized as lazy and disinterested. He isn't getting a million from anybody, especially now Parra with Stuart at the helm

I agree with TimmyB, it will more than likely be a player leaving a club for a big offer rather than one staying at their existing. JT and Slater seem pretty happy where they are and GI seems settled at lol@50uff$.

I will tip that the Roosters will be the first team to pay a million for a player.

We could get GI back and we'd have a whole cap spent on 4 players.. lol..

I think you are right about the Roosters. Dugan perhaps? He's at the right age and will be coming into his prime when the big money kicks in from the new tv $$$.

Someone like Hayne could get it as I can see him leaving the Eels if the price is right.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will be our FB for the next ten years as soon as Mini retires (or perhaps even earlier). So if we are to spend a million $ on a player it certainly won't be Dugan.

If the cap soon rises to $6-7 million then id have no qualms in paying SBW a million dollars a season to keep him. He's the most talented forward of all-time so is definately worth it.

that money hungry merkin wants to be the highest paid - he'd expect more than a million to stay

as for the other clubs, i hope clubs dont start throwing stupid money at players like in the SL war

some of the players mentioned in this thread may be good players but arent worth a million - take dugan for example, he needs to be injury free and play more consistently before getting anywhere near that mark
