Fight for Life - League v Union

Who are the union blokes?

Never heard of them.

They're a pretty good crop for those that don't know (going to assume you're joking, but for the benefit of those who don't pay mind to rugby)

Hika Elliot comes from a family of professional fighters and is pretty handy at kung fu, karate(qualified for the world championships) and mma, supposedly. Plays for the Chiefs and has been capped for the All Blacks. Only 26 so still in prime shape

Rene Ranger plays for the Blues. Was recently cleared of assault and has previous for bar room brawling. Infamously dealt with a local gang who were picking off rugby players outside a bar, much to the appreciation of the local police  Him and Bird should be entertaining

Flavell played for New Zealand and the Blues, still plays pro for Bayonne in France. Could score an upset on Willie Mason

and Carlos Spencer goes without saying. Famous All Blacks player, knocked out Awen Guttenbeil last year

Don't know who the bum Vatuvei is fighting in. Manu wanted an All Blacks player with 20 plus caps but nobody would step up. The event organiser kept trying to get Nonu to fight him, but word on the proverbial streets is that Nonu was shook

should raise a bit of money this year round with some decent billing you'd think. 2 state of origin players, 3 All Blacks and 1 NZ Kiwi, and a retired NZ Kiwi and retired AB.

The best looking card they've had since they started this thing. Great match ups, they really got the mix well this year. (maybe not the Manu fight, but 1 punch can make the diff). Its great to see athletes who are still in their prime fighting, the womans match up shapes up to be a goodie too.

Was thinking gallen is gonna get smashed before I even read the other blokes fighting credentials. Short round heavy blokes don't do so well in the combative arts, even if tough. I expect manu and bird to dominate. Masoe I don't think could even tie his shoes judging by how bad he is at footy, and mccracken's never been good at anything in his life.

You f**kn halfwit. If there is ever LU fight night, there'll be plenty of invites in your inbox you piece of shite. I'm guessing your mum wouldn't let you participate though.

I'm guessing he's been beaten around the ring quite a bit....will end up with roids.

Hemorrhoids..

whether gal can box or not i reckon he'll be like homer simpson in the ring -just tough and stupid and impossible to knock out. he'll just keep coming forward.

can manu box? not sure whether he'll look scary in the ring or grinning like an idiot

anyone know if the figths will be semi serious or just some blokes running around pretending to throw jabs?

the guy fighting bird better hope the ref checks for glass

Last year's event was entertaining (especially Hayley Holt vs Paige Hareb, those girls just went all out for the whole fight!), but yeah some of the fights will just turn into flying fists for a round and a half then blown out nothingness for the second half of the fight.

The Manu Vatuvei vs Eric Murray bout (gold teeth vs gold medallist) is interesting, you'd think Manu would have it all over the rower, but Eric is a pretty big boy himself and one would think have the fitness over Manu. That's probably the most intriguing fight to me.
I'm torn about the Mason/Bird/Gallen fights, 'cos I supported pretty much all the league boys last year, but this year I'd REALLY like to see those three get KTFO

Will be watching this at the cricket club a few of my mates play for, was a great night last year (though one of the guys got pinged for driving drunk the silly bugger, and got his license DQ'ed for 6 months or so), looking forward to it again this year.

If Bird can't beat someone called Rene there's a problem.

Then again a girl's name might be just the catalyst Bird needs...
