Fair comments guys.
No doubting his ability, but the comparison made by Pat to Boyd rings true.
Nowadays, the 1 plays such a pivotal role. Lets hope Beale can rise to the occassion. I think he may well do so.

Beale playing so light must be because he is looking for more speed and endurance but it seems to have costed him in the power and strength department. Early days but he does look a little too light.

Reckon our attack will improve,we looked rusty ,and might take 3 or 4 games to click. It was our flimsy defence up the middle which worried me,how easy the metres were for them.

Yep. Jeez we looked soft up the middle and online defense. 0 structure in defense or attack via the trials. Guna have to really lift it come round 1, because Cam, Cronk and Slater will pick us to pieces all day :(

I remember in an article he was boasting about how light he was which had helped hiss e moving to fullback... But as you guys have said and I have mentioned previously, he is too weak!

I don't think Beale is as good as Boyd or will ever be as good as Boyd. Darius was a devastating winger with a good tries to matches rate. Not many tries as fullback but a very tough, strong & uncompromising player most of the time.

Beale has a lot to live up to if he wants to be as devastating as Boyd at his best.

Boyd was great because he never dropped bombs, had outstanding positional play and was a very good last line of defence. If his support play was significantly better, he could be one of the best players in the game. The other problem he faces is that teams are awake to the sweeper now and it is not nearly as effective as it was in 09/10 at St George.
