Napier, Takapuna & Miramar.

I have now spent most of my life away from NZ and have lived in 13 different countries - not sure I'll ever make it back on a non-holiday basis.

It'd be great for Wellington to get more games, but, there's a few commercial and logistics issues they need to overcome. Firstly, all their equipment is based in Auckland. Nowadays its not just a half deflated medicine ball and a patchy running track out the back of Mt Smart 2, so they'll be keen to be there as much as possible to get the value from their investment.

Secondly, my understanding is the break even figure for Mt Smart is 15,000 people, but I understand it rises at other venues when you take into consideration the extra costs of travel and accommodation for the squad and the support staff.

Thirdly, and probably most importantly, I'm sure there'd be a negative effect on the memberships if the club was to take more games away from Mt Smart. Even the move to Eden Park seems to get a lot of people riled up. Wellington... even that got one or two bad reactions on this forum because people felt they were getting dudded for their season membership value.

Having gone to the Caketin, I can't impress how amazed I was with that crowd. Even on Monday at the Airport there were people flying out in Warriors jerseys. On Sunday down Cuba Street there were a fair few Warriors jerseys. So I say the first three points with a heavy heart as it'd be great to have more games in Wellington. There's no doubt in my mind that there is a lot of passion in Wellington and the surrounding regions for rugby league. I can only imagine that exploding into something more should they get their own team.

Him - Cool, so where are ya living now?
Me - Uhhhh.... Wellington?
