Just finished watching. Awesome game.

Japanese hit the posts a couple of times at the end, end to end football for the most part.

4-4 would have been fitting.

So much for wire and comments, if only they played like that against Brazil as well.

Anyway, good on them, great representation from our region for others to see.

You'd imagine they will beat Mexico on that showing, although both teams are not playing for anything.

Only 2 of the 6 were 'proper' goals. The others were OGs or keeper error.

So a 2-1 loss was a very good result.

Good to see the Asian representative doing well. In our current state, I couldn't picture us putting three goals on the board against Italy.

It puts in to perspective how we played. We contained Japan very well in the 1st half a few weeks ago and managed to exploit them on the break with their goal coming from a ridiculous penalty that was stupidly given away, granted our goal was from a fluke cross but still.

We aren't as bad as people would believe and neither is Asia which is slowly but surely getting recognition outside of the region since South Africa.

The confederations cup is a great step for the smaller regions as well. The Europeans hate it but its required to help the rest of the world.

It's hard to draw a form line on Italy. They've been taken to the wire by an out of form Mexico and now conceding two legitimate goals to Japan.

Thought both penalties were poor decisions. Neither of them should have been given IMO.

It might be the Italian in me, but entertainment shouldn't come ahead of competent defending. Some of the play by both teams at the back was appalling. I enjoyed the game but there is a real lack of quality defending in world football at the moment.

Honda was once again superb for Japan, everyone raves over Kagawa and he is an excellent player but Honda makes Japan tick. Fabulous player and any club who picks him up is in for a treat.

De Rossi once again exceptional for Italy. That pass for the final goal was superb.

I would have been happy for neither to be given, but since they were, both cards were wrong.
