Not sure what 'the way back' will entail. I'll hopefully be in Europe a few months and then be back in Oz until the New Year. Too many mates getting married for me to come back to China.

Last few times I flew there was no inflight entertainment. Thankfully I had my mp3 Player so I could at least listen to music

Hate merks who recline their seats the whole flight...I always knee the back of the seat just to make it uncomfortable for them.

Who are the worst people to fly with? Some might say babies or fat people, but my bet is on the Chinese. Never met a ruder, more selfish group of people when it comes to being on a plane. Hawking up phlegm, arguing, standing in the aisles chatting when they're being told to sit down, leaning right back, elbowing or hitting you with luggage as they try and pass, being oblivious to the people around them...

Yuck.

Went to the States about 7 years ago for a baseball tour. At LAX about to come home, a guy on my team decided that after we dropped our bags off, walking past the airport staff would be a great time to make a joke about them not finding the bomb, thinking it would go down well with the airline staff (spoiler alert, it didn't). It took 4 coaches/tour managers about 20 minutes to convince the staff that he was a 15 year old kid with ADHD and not the brightest bulb so he had no idea that they would take it seriously.

Flying home from Melbourne 2 years back, when boarding the plane, the 2 mates I was flying with (after I explicitly told them not to crack jokes in front of airline staff) decided to make a drugs joke to me before we boarded. Then the whole way to our seat complained and moaned when I was shooting daggers at them. Apparently "Don't joke about drugs or weapons or anything, if any airline staff hears it they have to take it seriously and will drag us off the plane" wasn't clear enough.

Once flew Kuala Lumpur > Macau on the ultra cheap Air Asia. Not only was it my first exposure to a true no frills cheap airline, but my first intro to Chinese culture. I should have known once the queueing (read: pushing and shoving) began in earnest well before the terminal door opened. Once it did, everyone ran across the apron like lunatics.

Once on board, the 99% Chinese crowd yelled, argued and generally f**ked around the whole flight. Smelly blokes coughing up phlegm and lounging all over the back of my seat. Dudes were fishing things out of the overhead lockers as we were basically touching down on the runway. Unbelievable.

The girlfriend and I could only laugh at their slogan 'now everyone can fly'..

Imagine my shock as I was accustomed to the orderly behavior in Japan. When we got to KL it took me about 2 or 3 hours but then I was elbowing, shoving and cutting people off with the best of them. I got stuck on a bus tour through California for a week with a mainly Chinese tour group. By the third day they stopped shoving to get past me and it was surprisingly quiet around the Wife and I on the bus. They seemed to have the impression that westerners couldn't do the push and shove.

We all learned something that week. I learned that bus tours and I were not compatible.

I also learned that a 7 hour bus trip from LA to San Fran with a mix tape of 7 different covers of 'Hotel California' and 8 covers of 'Are you going to San Francisco?' makes me stabby.

Most airlines have been acceptable. Delta, United, and China Southern have all been utter shit though.

It's an acronym.
Don't
Expect
Luggage
To
Arrive.

I've flown them from LA to Sydney and back with no probs though. We've also used SouthWest and Airtrans here in the US with no hassles. They're budget airlines, but no fuss, no problems.

I tried the polite thing for a while, but now the Chinese feel the full wrath of my elbows and broad shoulders. I don't care about their age or sex - if they shove me, they got knocked down.

Agree..caught a flight from KL to Phuket and a family of 8 kids and parents got on that would not sit in their allocated seats etc and the Air Hostess almost kicked them off the plane !.

One of the teenage kids thought he was Psy that Gangnum Style idiot and gave me an evil stare when he got told off by the hostie for pulling out his i-phone when we were moving out to take off and I just lol'd.
