Are Tickets and Factions killing the thing we love most?

Yep, at least a faction in isolation never argues with itself.

I was going to say never undermines itself but Fitzy could even manage that without outside help.

You know, I hate seeing my friends feel this way, but in all honesty it is how I felt in 2008, sorry guys. You are disillusioned with this club and I can understand that.

But banning tickets is not the way. Banning factions is not the way.

I could say banning Ego's but that is how all this started.

The way forward, I think we are going to have to, like the current hung parliament, surf this one out. Allow Roy back on the LC board instead of Sid, and if desperately needed go to an FC election in December. It hurts but unless you want to smack them all down, you can't do much else.

Chipmunk, there are 12 other NRL clubs with the same constitution as ours or at least for the most part with some minor tweaks, our constitution is based of the NSWRL constitution, the only problem we have is that the NRL club is owned by the leagues club not the football club. There is no constitutional crisis about getting this club back to the football club, it is just getting the two boards to agree. It could also be done with an XGM of both clubs if the members want it enough, 100 signatures to the motion for both clubs and it could happen.

I find this number difficult to believe. I cannot believe that the privately owned Broncos, Storm, North Qld, Titans, Warriors, Souths and Manly would have a similar constitution. In fact I think with private ownership it would be impossible to have a similar constitution. I know the Raiders also have a different set up where people are appointed to the board some how.

So with one faction holding power in the football club and the other faction holding power in the Leagues Club, how do you think you could get the two boards to agree to transferring the NRL Club?

Well ironically, the now former director who inspired me to start this thread is one of the least egotistical gentleman you'll ever meet.

Ego's are killing the club, I can't fathom for a second how your ego is more important than the club we love!

How do these f*ckwits put themselves up for election if they don't want to work with whoever else gets on the board with them?

It's not like its lucrative or anything, what is the ego for, I just don't get it? I must just be way too simple to understand.......

I'm not sure a constitutional change can control factions.

You cant legislate people's feelings and opinions and factions can develop after a board is elected.

Nice idea but I think its fantasy land.

Maybe I should have said former NSWRL club. Any one who played in the NSWRL had a constitution modelled off theirs.

So Parra, Penrith, West, Balmain, St George, Easts, Illawarra.

However I would also think South's and Manly would have a similar FC constitution, but are in a Partnership for their NRL side, somewhat like us. The Broncos would have a similar constitution but would also have a section on shareholders rights instead of members rights.

I don't believe the Cowboys are privately owned.

How are Canberra's board members appointed? Do the members get a vote ?

I think you mean Sid.

In that case, I would consider Sid very much like the fictional Francis Urquart, a back room boy for all intents and purposes.

When someone actually knows the constitutions of every other NRL club, let us know.
Otherwise, please refrain from getting on here and comparing them to ours.

It might sound a bit silly, but I think we need 1 or 2 passionate fans on the board, now I'm not sure about how that can happen. But we need some real passion around the joint, it just feels like that is something that is really lacking.

I think ED is correct, I recall bartman asking the question when he linked the possible axing of Dave Furner to an election year only to be corrected by a Canberra fan..

Not as silly as it sounds, I think it would be nice to have a board member with a direct link to the members or maybe a members advisory committee with direct links to the board..

Either way, I don't think that's the most pressing issue right now, I think its paramount that the merkins can start working together instead of stabbing each other in the back.

Quite sure they don't and their board members are internally appointed.

By whom? I thought it was the peoples club. A Family club.

From what I recall of my time being involved with the local league here the Raiders set up is quite complicated. If I recall "Members" do get a vote, but the membership of the Club is not open to just anyone and supporters/season ticket holders etc are not members and have no option to ever become a member. This set up might have even changed and closed up further after the Club was sold to News Ltd for a motza during Super League and then bought back from News Ltd sometime later for something like $1. It is possible that JR just decides who is and who isnt a Member at any given time and they're suddenly on the board. Who knows really, but perhaps someone from the Raiders forum can elaborate more.

I believe all the Super League Clubs were sold to News Limited and at some stage have been "sold" back (Dogs, Sharks, Raiders) or sold on (Broncos, Warriors) or closed down (Rams, Reds, Mariners). I think the Cowboys up until recently were News Limited owned, as obviously were the Storm.

These pricks could care less about us or the club! I have seen members of the last 3 boards laughing and joking around in tough times. I can assure you at games I am not laughing and joking about anything.......I'm shattered, even when I prepare myself, I'm shattered for quite some time after the game.

I want to see them hurting, I don't want to see them in the grandstand talking to Daniel Anderson and joking around (like I did at the Penrith game). If they are taking to DA, I want them to be tearing strips off him for butt raping us all year, ok they may be unprofessional but I think you get what I mean.

I have no interest in talking and mixing with players, their job is to play footy, imo this is how the board should be. I see too much of them, shouldn't they be faceless men?

It is not meant to be a prestige thing, is it?

I think 1 or 2 of them might be fans already.

To answer the question.
No. The on field effort of the last three seasons is.

The on field effort has effectively finished us off. The shit started when the need for change first arose and has slowly snowballed since. Redundancies, sackings, jobs for the boys..... They have placed us further and further down the ladder and regardless of how they try on field the lack of a strong front office will continue to keep us there.

The factions and tickets need to work together otherwise there won't be anything left.
