Thank you.

Now with a salary cap and Parramatta's finances it is hard to find an excuse.
Thank you.
much like piggins with souths during that time, i'd give credit for stuffing wests to tommy and the people who put him in charge of the team.Refer to magpie4ever's post. Apparently the super league war torn their team apart
stop talking sense. you'll just confuse some people.The finances are nearly irrelevant due to the salary cap, and the salary cap is exactly why we struggle to lure talent away from other clubs.
Every player has a certain value. That's the maximum price you should pay for the player before your salary cap suffers. So for us to poach players from their clubs we would need to pay more than what they are worth. But if we do that it hurts our salary cap and therefore our ability to recruit/retain other players. It's a vicious circle.
The way out is to focus on identifying future first graders through the 'academy'. This is how the strong teams remain so - they essentially get a couple of years of value out of young players by paying them unders. Take Canberra for example; Papalii has been worth $300k+ for nearly two years but he won't be getting anywhere near that much until next year. In fact the only reason we even had the chance to sign him is because Canberra thought they could re-sign him on the cheap again. At least now they have been forced to pay market price. This is what we've done with guys like Tanginoa and Pritchard, who are signed until 2015.
The other way we can recruit first graders without having to pay overs is by offering the opportunity to play regular NRL footy, where their current clubs cannot. This is how we got Roberts, Harrison, Norman and Peats.

always had a soft spot for the magpies so felt bad for them being so crap for most of the 90s like we were.

I still have a soft spot for them too. I live for the day the magpies return, and they f**k the tigers off once and for all. A might even do a parra Pete if they were to happen.
Amen to that, bro.
Just remind me, which players did you lose?
Kyle white, Leeds and Blair???:lol::lol:
Instead of wasting your time in an eels forum, why not organize a few wests boys and do a rally, ala south a few years back. We see less of your posts and wests back in the comp. win win.

At least I can still cheer for the team I grew up supporting ;-)

Truth normally does hurtThat's not nice.![]()

Hill, Gillespie, Hopoate to name a few - do you want more?
I believe we (Wests) need to wait until Balmain fall from the tree re: bankrupt before a case can be made for the return of the magpie.
