As I have said on here before, it is a fallacy to say that changing jerseys makes a club unpopular. The European Soccer clubs change their jersey every year and sometimes the designs are significantly different. It doesn't seem to affect their popularity.

Our lack of popularity has nothing to do with our jersey, although I'm sure the hideous brown and white design would have turned a lot of kids off of following the Panthers because they wouldn't look very "cool" in it.We are a team from a small remote suburb that has relatively modest success and is only 40 years old. The club has been run by amateurs for many years and very little attention was paid to marketing and promotion until the early 2000's. Our popularity is about what you would expect.

Why was the group sent the invoices and not the football arm

If the club is innocent then they need to sue the telegrapth plain and simple.The headlines are clear they are accusing the club of buying peptides

I thought the tide was turning and we where headed for a great future but those same bumbling fools who made these decissions are no doubt still involved in the club in some capasity.i do not blame gould as he was no part in whar went on but he needs to stand firm and clean out thevoffice side of things

No doubt we have the marketing skills or a pack of monkeys but we should be able to turn on the TV and go Panthers are playing when you glance at the jersey.

That is the most amateurish looking logo I have ever seen on a professional sporting team... by far - For the record, my daughter (8 yo) hates it and doesnt want any merch if that is on it - The club WILL lose money over this

Yeah slighty different as they went from Auckland based (blue) to NZ based (black) but yeah they can have 500 jerseys & we go well as 1 country team.

I have counted us having 15 main jerseys since 99.

I didn't count special jerseys as they are good to make the til tick over as the main jersey's rarely change.

You are counting home and away jerseys aren't you.

Agree about the monkeys but to be fair the Panthers have been predominantly black since 1991. This has been mixed with white and teal, but it always black as the main colour. They have had alternative strips with other colours, but that shouldn't be an issue. This is a trend (varying alternate strips in colours not associated with the club) followed by many other codes.

If you had a look at the Man Utd kits you would see that they have done all sorts with their strip including changing the colours of the their shorts (black to white) and socks. Their red jersey had a black V across it recently. They have had checked patterns and they have completely dropped the white trim that is synonymous with their strip for most of their history. Yes, red is the main colour, but some of them have been messed with so much they look like a Liverpool or Nottingham Forest strip at times (a fact that really pisses their fans off).

As for the alternates, Man Utd have had strips in yellow and green, Chelsea blue, white, grey. black and just about any colour you can think of that isn't red and white. Chelsea, who you also mention, have had an orange away strip and a yellow one. None of these have any tie in to the traditional colours but they certainly sell plenty of them.

As long as we continue to have black as the main colour, all the trim changes are neither here nor there.

Yes but they are not main strips. The main strip is the home one. You are exaggerating to try and make a point.

Try counting the number of jersey changes Man U or Chelsea have had in the same time if you include their alternate strips.

The pink strip was worn most this year but it is neither the main nor the away strip. Although I have heard that Gus is intending to change the clubs

Gus's introduction of the logo, to members, was in no way ambiguous. He joked about everybody in the room being able to keep a secret "because the NRL was in charge of logos" and indicated that we were being given a special viewing. The NRL is certainly not in charge of the Panthers Group logo so it was apparent that he was talking about an overarching logo that covered all areas particularly Panthers Rugby League side.
This will probably sit on the backburner now the Earl thing has blown up but I can't wait to hear the explanation. Having said that, sounds like a lot of people will breathe easy for a while knowing we have not seen the actual rugby league logo.
I wonder if the lack of enthusiastic support since its release has had anything to do with the backflip.
