My take on this is that Ricky probably did not want to leave and wanted to finish the job here. But when our chairman came out and said we would not stop him if he wanted to leave, then I am sure that bristled Stuart to the point where he probably thought 'f**k you then' if that is what you think of me. Another stupid comment from our leader.

If a club made a massive offer for Bellamy mid-contract, how do you think the Storm would react? I am sure they would come out and say that he has a contract and they will not be letting him go anywhere.

I would be pissed too if I was in Stuarts boots to and my chairman came out publicly and said he couldn't be f**ked if I left.

The Chairman would not have had to say anything if Stuart knocked it on the head on day one.

I get Sharp's position. Stuart painted a picture of single mindedness and focus on re-building. Yet after there was speculation that the Raiders were interested in paying big coin, he reverted to silence.

All I hope is that if Stuart wants out of his contract, then he or the Raiders compensate us. After all, his windfall is $7M and this act of repudiation is worthy of huge compensation to our club.

Did anyone here happen to hear Matt Phelan speak to the fans at the Leagues club?

I was only there for a few minutes, and heard he was confident our recruitment for 2014 will be a lot stronger.

Also confident Stuart will be there in 2014 and 2015 but said he hadnt asked Stuart about speculation on leaving for Canberra.

This does concern me.

It would be nice if the club gave the coach (any) a stable platform to build from. You cant blame stuart for the speculation when people are behind the scences leaking stories to the media that he isnt wanted.
If I was Ricky, I would want the board (all of them) to present in unison to the media to commit to his ongoing tenure until the end of his contract. This would at least make them all accountable for this decision and stop the speculation. If I was ricky this is what I would be requesting during the yearly review with Sharp.

If Ricky is a bad coach as some say and he finishes the season with the same number of wins as last year with a worse roster (only three of which were under Kearney) what then? Another coach in 2014, another in 2015, when does it stop?

The dysfunctional board that we have at the moment use the coach to further their own interests. Lets not support them distabilising our club, admit that we had to have some lean years and then build with what we have got. Some plans take time but im happy to wait if the end result is consistent long term performace of the football team.

Good news for the Eels fans is the win over Dragons was the fifth time this season they had beaten a team higher in the ladder, (with Warriors in Round 1 starting the season finishing in a higher position in 2012)

After what the Raiders did to David Furner, it has turned me off being a passionate NRL follower, Couldn't care less these days...ho hum....snore....Loyalty means SFA......
BUT furnsie has come out of it OK....the team has gone backwards since the decision....
Hoping Souths (with Snoopy as assistant coach) or the Warriors (with Matty Elliott and Andy McFadden as his assistant) can take the title, just out of interest..purely academic these days. I have more interest in the Group 20 finals series underway, and hope our little mate Springs can win a title with Yenda....

Three of our wins have been against the teams currently sitting in 13th, 14th and 15th place. Plus we beat ourselves on a few occasions.
